c it known that I, Vrorron S.
States, residing at Mount Hope, 1n. the county of Fayette and State' of \Vest' Virginia, tain new and useful Improvements in Port able 'lrack-Measurers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a. full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as it appertains to make and use the same.
Iy invention relates to improvedmeasuring devices and resides in the provision of a simple and inexpensive measurer'that is ticularly designed for .measnring distances on rails in mines'and other tracks. I
' n important object of my invention is to k measuring instrument of ated upon rails of different sizes.
Another object is to improve measuring devices of the character described so as to render them more simple as to construction, easy to operate and inexpensive to manu facture.
The above and additional objects are acmeans as are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out as claimed.
Wit reference to the drawings, wherein have illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention as it is reduced to practice, and throughout the several views of which similar reference numerals designate corres own in section, and Fig. 2 is a front elevation showing the device in use. and upon a rail which is shown in section.
v Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, the numera Mounted upon this pin or axle 3 is a measuring wheel 5 which may he of any desired circumferential. measurement but is preferably one foot in circumference.
