T0 all whom it may concern.' l n l Be it known that I, JOHN T.l HUCK', a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the countyof San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ratchet Mechanism, of which the following is a Specification. y
This invention relates to improvements in ,ratchet mechanisms and has particular application to ratchet mechanism of the -roller type.

It is also my purpose to provide a mechanism of the type set forth which will em- -brace the desired featuresof simplicity, ef-
ficiency and durability, one which may be installed and maintained at a minimum expense and one which may be manufactured and marketed at small cost.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth in and falling within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawings; Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a ratchet mechanism constructed in accordance with my present invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional View therethrough. Fig 3 is a similar view taken at right ang-les to ig. 2. F igjfl is a collective AView showing par-ts of the mechanism in elevation.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, 1 designates the driving member ofxthe ratchet mechanism, such member comprising a disk 2 having a central opening 3 formed therein and provided with an outwardly extending annular collar 4 concentiically of the opening, such collar being preferably ,formed integral with the disk and is equipped with a set screw 5 by means of which the disk may be fastened to a shaft or other like element: y Formed on the periphery of the disk 2 is an annular fiange 6. Disposed within the flange 6 and in con* tact therewith is an annulus 7 having the inner wall thereofformed with a series of pockets 8 having inclined inner walls 9 terminating at the relativelydeep ends thereof in abrupt shoulders 1 0. Formed in the annulus 7 and leading 4from the shoulders 10 onto the periphery of such annulus are angularly arranged bores 11 alining with threaded apertures 12 formed in thev flange 6 and disposed at an angle thereto. Slidably mounted'within each bore 11' is a shoe lll having the inner end thereof concaved as Aat 15 and adapted to project into the adjacent pocket, and connected with the outer 1 end of the shoe is a pinl, while threadedly engaging each aperture 12 is a plug 17 designed to hold the shoe within the bore.. A coiled expansion spring 18 surrounds each pin'l and has one end abutting the outer end ofthe respective shoe and the-opposite extremity in engagement -with the. inner end of the plug 17, such spring acting to pockets. l.
