FOUNTAIN-IBBUSHR HANDLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, STA NIISLAW KosnisKI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Amsterdam, in they county of Montgomery and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountain-Brush Handles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in fountain brush handles.
The primary object of this invention is to provide a brush handle having a constant fluid supply capable of regulation, the brush carried by the handle being readily positioned and moved by hand during the feeding of the fluid to'the bristlesthereof.
A further object is -to provide a brush handle and brush carried thereby and having a water fountain supply for the bristles of the brush, the water supply being readily regulated by the manipulation of a rotatable valve portion ofthe brush handle.
A still further object is to provide a fountain brush handle that is cheap and inexpensive to manufacture and which is of suflicient length to render the same serviceable.

\Vith these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and set forth in the appended claim.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged central longitudinal sectional view of the water regulating means upon the handle, the cutoff valve being shown in side elevation. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken upon line III-J11 of Fig. 2, showing the regulating valve in its open position. Fig. 4 is a similar sectional view showing the valve closed, and Figs. 5 and 6 are perspective detail views of the two element: of the regulating valve.

The inner wall 18 of the casing 14- which flatly engages the back 11 is provided with perforations 19 for conducting the fluid from the chamber 15 to the ports 13. A-tubular handle 20 is secured to a boss 21 of the casing 14 for supplying fluid such as water to the chamber 15, a flexible pipe or hose 22 being attached to the outer free end 23 of the handle.
The outer end 23 of the .handle is provided with a cut-01f valve 24: having an op erating lever 25. An interrupted portion of the brush handle is provided with a spanning sleeve 26 revolubly mounted between the adjacent ends of the handle. The handle portion 23 has an annular flange 27 over which one end of the sleeve 26 is fitted for revolving said sleeve, being provided with an inner collar 28 secured thereto by screws 29 and having an intervening packing 30. Relative longitudinal movement between the sleeve 26 and handle portion 23 is pre vented by means of radially positioned screws 31 projecting into the interior of the sleeve. The opposite end of the sleeve has an inwardly projecting annular flange revolubly mounted upon the bushing 33 which bushing is secured within the adjacent end of the handle 20 by screws 34. The bushing 33 is provided with anend head or disk 35 having oppositely'positioned valve openings 36 therethrough, while the disk is of greater diameter than the bushing and forms an annular projecting flange 37 which is positioned within the sleeve 26 and engages the sleeve flange 32, a packing 38 being positioned between the said disk flange and sleeve flange. A valve disk 39 is secured'within the sleeve 26 by radial screws 40 and is provided with valve openings 41 therethrough corresponding to the openings 36 of the bushing head 35.
By this detailed description of the device,
the complete operation of the elements will be at once apparent. The fluid such as water being supplied through the hose 22, the supply thereof to the brush may be completely opened or cut off. by means of the cut-off valve 24. With the said cut-01f valve opened, the Water will enter the sleeve 26 p which may be revolved by the hand of the operator to regulate the flow thereof from the sleeve to the brush by means ofthe valve openings 41 and 36 being thereby positioned opened as far as desired or closed entirely if preferred. The water thus regulated by a turning of the sleeve, enters the chamber 15 and is supplied to the bristles 12 by the ports 13. A serviceable portable fountain brush is thus provided having a ready means of regulating the water supply Without removing either hand of the operator from the handle of the brush during the operation 'havin an interrupted portion forming space -apar.t ends, a bushing projecting from one of said ends, a head having valve openings therethrough and provided upon the opposite end of said bushing, and projecting therefrom forming an annular flange, a sleeve revolubly mounted upon the said head and upon the other handle portion end and having an inturned. flange positioned behind the said head flange, a valve disk secured within said sleeve in engage ment with the said bushing head and having valve openings therethrough similar to and adapted for registry with the valve opening Y of said head, a fluid supply pipe having a terminal annular flange received in the outer end of said last named handle portion, a retaining collar within the end of said handle, and transverse pins carried by said handle engaging said flange whereby the same is held from longltudinal movement relative to the supply pipe.
