Description

0. B. BULLARD.
DISK BLADE.
APPLICATION HLED sen-25. 1914.
Patented June 1, 1915 @uumtoz OTTO BERT BULLARD, OF SPALDING, NEBRASKA.
DISK BLADE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OTTO BERT BULLARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spalding, in the county of Greeley and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Disk Blades, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to cultivators and more particularly to disks for disk cultivators, harrows, and like machines.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple and eificient structure of this character which will effectively break up the earth so that the use of a drag or roller will be obviated.
Further objects of the invention will appear as therfollowing description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing. which forms a part of this application, and in which:
Figure 1 is an elevation of the disk. Fig. 2 is an edge view thereof. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the disk is constructed of an ordinary dished plate 1 provided with a plurality'of radial slots or cuts 2 which produce the radial projections 3. Each of these projec- Specification of Letters Patent.

tions is twisted so as to bring one radial edge thereof laterally out of alinement with the opposite edge in the form of a windwheel or like structure. The edges of the projections are connected together by substantially U-shaped members 5 having angular lips 6 as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. These connecting members 5 join the ofiset and normal edges of adjoining projections 3 and lie in radial planes. The disk of course is provided with a central aperture to receive the axle and is keyed to said axle in any suitable manner.
What is claimed is:
A cultivator disk comprising a circular dished plate having a plurality of radial projections, each provided with a lateral 01T- set edge and a normal edge, and V-shaped plates having oppositely extending lips, said lips being attached to the offset and normal edges of adjoining projections.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
