An adjustable tscrew 16 engages-'the internal screw-threads of bushing 12 and carries contact .17 0n its inner endg-thus-perf mitting adjustability of thev thermostatv to varying degrees of heat. A nut 18 turning on said screw 1G between its outer end and the outer end of bushing l2 may be turned or screwed forward on said screw 'to jam against the end of said bushing-12', thus locking the screw 16 `and its contact 17 in any'desired position of adjustment.
Of course the contacts 8 and 17;' are directly opposite each other in order to A make circuit when the two arms 5 and 6 move toward each other; also, the bushing'i), contact 8, contact 17, screw 16 and bindingpost 13 are of material of high electrical conductivity, so that the circuit would be from the source of electrical energy, not shown, through positive wire a, through 'bushing 9, Contact 8, contact 17, screw 16, postll and negative wire b back to the source of electrical energy.
It is quite obvious that various changes 5 and modifications may be made in the construction, combination and arrangement'of the different parts of this invention, of lwhich a preferred form only is illustrated and described, without departing from the spirit thereof, and it is our desire and intention to include all such changes and modiications in the appended claims.
Waving thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: 1. A horizontal bar, vertical segmental plates attached to the respective ends of said bar and adapted to t over lan upstanding collar, a vertical rod attached to, and depending from, said bar, and a squared block secured to the lower end of said rod, in combination with two compound metal arms y attached at their lower ends to said block and having their upper and free Contactl carrying arms dir ectlv opposite each other to make and breal. the electrical circuit said arms movetoward ory away from each other. j2. A pair of segmental plates adapted to lit on the neck of av receptacle, in combination with a bar connecting said plates. a rod .suspended from said bar, a pair of thermoscopic arms attached at their` lower ends to vthe lower end of said rod for Lsnspendin them Within the receptacle but insulat d from each other and carrying coperating electrical contacts above said plates for the purpose set forth.
8. A pair of arms adapted to move toward or from each other at their upper ends accordii'ior to changes of temperature and provided with electrical'contacts at said ends, in combination with neans for suspending 80 said arms within a' receptacle, said means comprising elements adapted to tit upon an upstand-i'ng tubular part of the latter.
