FUEL-VALVE-GOVERNING DEVICE FOR COMBUSTION-MOTORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 25, 1915.
Application filed December 31, 1914. Serial No. 879,967.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRITZ SCHWARZ, subject of the King of Prussia, residing at 28 Friebenstrasse, Mariendorf, near Berlin, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fuel-Valve-Governing Devices for Combustion-Motors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to combustion motors and more especially to the means for governing the fuel admission valve.
The invention has for its object to provide a fuel admission governing device which is easier to handle and more efiicient than the devices hitherto in use.
In governing devices at present used the valve needle of the fuel admission valve pressed upon its seat by a spring is governed by means of an elastic gear and a cam disk. In these devices the lift stop is governed by an adjustable nut. According to my invention the fuel admission is governed by automatically varying the lift stop through the governor, the lift of the valve needle being limited by a cam adjusted by being turned around its axle by the governor.
The device shown in the drawings is the preferred modification of my invention. 7
The valve needle a of the fuel admission valve is pressed against its seat by a spring Z) and is lifted from its seat by a cam c on cam shaft d actuating.v a double-armed lever f. Between the forked upper end of said lever and the valve needle, there is inserted a disk 9 gliding on said needle and a spiral'spring b, one end of said spiral spring resting against a fixed stop 2' on the needle end, and the other one against the movable disk 9 linked to the forked end of lever f.
'Spring'lz. being stifi'er than spring 6, the
lever in oscillating will at first compress the spring 6, spring it not being influenced. A little distance from the free end of needle a an eccentric cam m rotatable around a fixed axle is arranged, said cam being actuated by the governor. The eccentric face of the cam serves as a limiting stop for the opening of the valve, the free end of the needle a being lifted after compression of spring h. By moving the governing rod 01. in the di rection of the valve the cam is rotated so as todiminish the distance between its face and the free end'of the needle.
I claim 1. In a fuel v'alve governing device for combustion motors, in combination, a needle valve, a spring adapted to press the needle against the valve seat, an elastic gear adapted to lift the needle from its seat and a cam adapted to be shifted by the governor and to act as a lift'stop for the valve needle.
2. In a fuel valve governing device for combustion motors, in combination, a needle valve, a-spring adapted to press the needle against the valve seat, a lever adapted to positively lift the needle from its seat, a spring inserted between said lever and the free end of the needle, said spring being stronger than the valve spring, a cam arranged in the path of the needle, said cam being adapted to oscillate around a fixed axle, and a connection between said cam and the governor.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY HASPER, I WOLDEMAR HAUPT.
