Be. it known that I, BENJAMIN P. You- MANS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vancouver, in the county of Clarke and State of ,Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Looks for Two -Relatively M ivable Levers,

for its object the providingof simple means for locking the reverse lever and the clutch lever in neutral position. so as to render the car unserviceable.

Other advantages of my invention will be made more clearly apparent in the following specification taken in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms part of this application.

The figure shown is a perspectivebf a part of a motor vehicle showing my inven tion attached thereto.

The steering coluinn 2 is provided at its lower end with a peripheral flange 3, the latter being rigidly bolted to the foot-board of the machine by the bolts' l. The clutchmember or lever is represented by 14:, and the reverse member or lever by 9. The parts thus far described are all of well-known constuction and need no further explanation.

An eye-bolt 5 is substituted for one of the bolts 4. An arm 6 has one end pivoted to the said eye-bolt 5, and is free to be moved universally with respect to same. The arm 6 is made with a medial transverse, or oif-set portion 8, and is provided with lock-means 13, including a shackle 12. The portion 7 of the arm 6 is made with a projecting portion 10, providing. a shoulder.

My devioeis used as follows: lVhen not in use, the arm 6 is placed to one side out of the way, as indicated by brokenlines in the figure. When it is desired to lock the machine, the clutch lever 14 will he auto matioally placed in neutral position by the operation or" the emergency brake, the latter not being shown in the drawing. The reverse lever 9 isnormally in neutral. The arm 6 is then swung into the position in which it is shown in the ngure, thereby plac-" ing the transverse portion 8 of the arm across the path of motion of the clutch lever 14:, at the same time placing the shouldered portion 10 of the arm in engagement with the reverse lever 9. The shacklelQ of the' lock 13 is then placed around the lever 14' and locked in place. The two levers l2 and 14 will then be locked in their neutral positions, rendering the vehicle inoperative.

I claim:

1. In combination with a fixed body, and two levers movable relatively thereto, and an arm, pivoted to said fixed body, having means to engage and secure said levers in a certain relative position thereof :said means consisting of a shackle adapted for encircling one of said levers, lock means tosecure the shackle in .tuch encircling position. and a shoulder located for engaging the other lever and obstructing the movement thereof.

2. In combinatio with a fixed body, and two levers movab e relatively thereto, an arm pivoted to said fixed body and formed with a medial oliset portion located to obstruct/the movement of pne lever, a shackle hinged to said ofi'-set portion of the arm for encircling said lever; lock means for securing the shackle in its encircling position. and. a shoulder ')11-i3l16 arm located for engaging the other lever and obstructing the movement thereof.
