By the provision of the,
irregular shaped member'12 and the curvature of this'member andrthe enlarged portion 10, I am able to provide a device which is very firmly held infiposition; when the. spring arms are attached to the support, since the inner surface of the member 10 binds against the inner surface of the irregular shaped member 12 and thus effectually prevents accidental rotation of'this member and the operating member 5. If desired, by simply loosening the holding means 3 the operating member 5 may be arranged at any desired angle with respect to the arms 2, as shown in Fig. l, so that the switch mechanism may be readily operated from any de sired angle, the operating member being firmly held in any position to which it is moved by simply tightening the holding means 3.
When it is desired to operate a switch mechanism either to make or break thecircuit all that it is necessary to do is to pull down or operate the lever 5 by means of the chain or cord 9. The operating member moves about its pivot 6, and the cutaway portion 16 on its lower arm engages with the protruding end of the push button. As the operatin member is turned about its pivot this push button is pushed in to compress the springs within the switch mechanism, andat a predetermined point in its travel the switch mechanism is turned to make or break the circuit and the push button is returned to its normal position protruding from the shell. When. the switch mechanism is thus returned to its normal position the operating member 5 is automati- Cally swung backward by the push button about its pivot to the up position shown-in Fig. 1, so that it may be again operated by pulling downthe cord or chain.
In Fig. 51 have illustrated a modified form of actuating mechanism. In this construction I provide a disk 17 which may be formed of any suitable material and is arranged to be carried in substantially the same manner as the pivot carrying member 7, shown in Fig. In this construction 1'. preferably provide the disk 17 with an opening or slot 18 in its periphery, which is preferably slightly enlarged at its bottom, as shown n Fig. This slot is arranged to receive the last ball or link of the chain 9, or, where cord 1s used, the knot on the end of the cord. In this construction,
instead of using a pivoted lever I provide aprotrudmg cap 19 arranged to fit over the endof the push button. This cap 19 is preferably substantially cylindrical in shape and provided with a recessed. end 20 arranged to receive and act av guide for the chain or'cord 9. in operating this device apull upon the cord or chain, which has its en'ds fixed in the slot 18, acts to force in the cap 19,-which is carried by the-push button, to actuate the switch mechanism.
In Figs. 6 and 'Z I have illustrated a modified form of this device, wherein I have provided pluralit ofslots 18 upon the periphery of the disk, so that the switch mechanism m'ay be operated from :mydcsired angle by simply placing the end, of the cord or chain in the desired slot. ts in the previous construction, l: preferably it a cap 19 over the end of thepush button 4; and mount the disk 1? in the some manner as described in connection with Fig. 5. In this construction the cap 19 is preferably provided with a plurality of recesses 20 in order-to permit the cord to run through it in any position.
By the use of my improved attachment I am able to readily transform a push bulton operated switch mechanism into a switch mechanism ot'the pull-chain type. Further,
by my improved construction I am able to provide a device which may be readily and conveniently arranged so that the switch mechanism may be operated by a pull from. any desired angle. Further, by my improyed construction I am able to prevent any accidental turning of the parts. Further, by the use of my improvement the switch i'nechanism is always actuated by a pull in the some direction in the same mannor as a pull chain switch. The construction is an exceedingly simple one, and the device may be made of a small number of rugged parts at very small expense. cord or chain may be of any desired length, so that the switch mechanism may be located. in any desired pos ion and actuated with case, when desired. By my improved construction there is no strain placed upon any of the operating parts, and the cll'ort re quired to actuate the switch mechanism is very small.
What ll claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows: I
l. in combination, a lamp socket having a push button operating member for its switch mechanism, a band encircling the lamp socket and having an opening through which said push button extends, a support carried by said band and rotatable relatively horoth, said support also having an opening Obviously, the

In combination, a lamp socket having a single push button protruding therefrom, a band encircling said lamp socket and having an opening through which said push button extends, a support carried by said band and angularly adjustable with respect thereto, and a bell crank lever pivoted to said support and having one end of the :same normally in engagement with said push button.
3. In combination, a push button operated snap switch mechanism, a support therefor,.
