It has also the advantage that-the connections between the latch and the releasing device are concealed and pro-' tected so that when the'release is locked these connections cannot be readily severed. The lever 30 may be moved rearwardly to normal position by aspring in any customary manner, not shown.
A secure lock is provided which does not interfere with the quick operation of the device and also does not involve any parts liable to loss or easy derangement.
:What is claimed:

A lever having a latch device thereon, a pivoted latch releasing member on the lever and having a lock casing forming a fixed part of the lever, and having a bolt arranged, disposed and operative to project into the path of oscillation of the pivoted member attirnes, the pivoted member having a part constructed and arranged to engage the projected bolt whereby releasing movement of the pivoted member will be prevented.
2. A lever comprising a hollow body having a handle and a pivot portion, the handle being .open atone side, the opening stopping short of the outer end of the handle, a latch releasing member pivoted in the handle longitudinally outward of the opening, whereby it will engage the outer Wall of the opening undeiioutward movement and having a portion projected outwardly through the opening and extended to be clasped with the handle, a lock fixed on the lever immediately adjacent the oscillating extremity of the pivoted member when at the outer limit of its movement, the lock including a bolt to be shot into'the path of the pivoted member, ,a latch slidable on the lever, and
means within the body of the lever operative under pivotal movement of the pivoted member to operate the-ilatch.
. 3. A lever of the class deshribed comprising a hollow .body and handle constructed for pivotal mounting, a notched segment, a latch slidable in. the lever constructed to engage the notched part of the segment at one limit of its movement, the handle having an opening at oneside', a sliding bolt in the body of the lever h'a'ijing an outer end beveled on the side-toward the openingand projected thereunder, resilient "means holding the-bolt at this limit otjgits' movement, a release member pivoted in theouter partof the handle and having its inner partdisposed. adjacent the inner edge of thebevel of the ,bolt and being movable inwardlyftqi" bear the bolt downwardly under sliding pn gagcment therewith, the release "her having an extension projected outn dly through said opening, and a lock 'on the lever at the inner side of the opening in eluding a locking member movable into the J.
