Be it known that li, EpMER E. KRUMBEIN, a citizen of theV United States, residing at Womelsdorf, in the countyV of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Dirigible Light, of whichthe following is a specication.
rThis invention relates to dirigible lights of that type especially designed for use in. connection with motor vehicles.
@ne of the objects of the invention is to provide means under the control of the driver whereby either or both of the lights can be turned relati\e to the vehicle on f' which they are mounted so as thus to cast rays of light in any desired direction irre- ,spectiveV of thedirection. in which the vehicle is traveling.
...It further object is to provide means for locking the lights against movement until it is desired to actuate them.
Another object is to provide operating y mechanism which is simple, durable and compact, inconspicuous, and which can be manipulated readily.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment .of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of whatis claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the iigures by characters of reference C designates a portion ot a motor vehicle, and in the structure illustrated the mud guards D constitute supports for the dirigible lamps constituting the present inw vention although itis to be understood that these lamps can be mounted at any other points desired.
The present invention includes al base plate 1 adapted to be bolted or otherwise se-v cured'4 upon its supporting structure and arranged on this base plate are superposed bearing plates 2 and 3 which may be held together in any manner desired. Journaled between the plates 2 and 3 is a segmental gear 4 having an arm 5 extending inwardly therefrom beyond the edges of the plates 2 and 3. Gear 4i meshes with a small gear 6 secured to a stem 7 which is mounted for rotation within the plate 3 and is secured at its upper venol to a disk 8 arranged upon saidplate 3. This disk is provided with upstanding arms 9 adapted to be secured to a suitable lamp, shown for example at 10, it beingunderstood that any kind of a lamp may be mounted on and secured to the disk 8.
Disk 8 is provided at diametrically opposed points with stop shoulders 11 and 12 and upstanding from the plate 3 are stop pins 13 and 14. These pins are so positioned that when the lamp 10 is throwing rays forwardly, shoulder 12 is in engagement with.

llVhen shoulder 12 is in engagement with' stop pin 14, shoulder 11 is engaged and held by a locking dog 15 pivotally mounted on the plate 3 and held normally in engaging position by a spring 16. One end of dog 15 is connected by a wire 17 or the like to one end of a bell crank lever 18 journaled upon plate 3 near the inner side thereof and secured to the other arm of the hell crank lever'18 is an actuating cord 19 which eX- tends rearwardly through the dashboard E ot the vehicle and is connected to a lever 2O fulcrumed upon the lower portion of the dashboard, where it can be reached readily by a foot of the driver. posed directly back of another corresponding lever 21, the two levers being so positioned that after the foot engaging end`22 of lever 20 has been pushed back a predetermined distance, it will strike the correspending end 23 of lever 21 so as to then cause said lever 21 to shift out of its normal position.
