To all whom it may concern Be it known that'I, WILLIAM E. HUsToN, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Valley View, in the county of Cooke and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Show-Case, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention appertains to show cases or display cases, and aims to provide a novel and improved device'of that character.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a case for displaying vegetables, fruits, nuts and other commodities, and which shall be sanitary and ventilated, the ingress of insects, vermin or extraneous matter being prevented.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The invention has been illustrated in its preferred embodiments in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the case, partly shown in section. Fig. 2 is a horizontal or cross section of the case. Fig. 3 is a fragmental section of a similar case embodying a modification.

In carrying out the invention, reference being had in detail to the drawing, there is provided a base 5 embodying an annular shell 6 having a circular bottom or bed plate 7 secured therein adjoining its upper end or between its edge and having a spider or bracing 8 secured therein adjoining its lower end or edge for supporting the case, casters 9 being secured to the spider 8. A circular top 10 is also provided, the same having the annular molding 11 secured to the lower face thereof. The base and top are preferably constructed of wood, although other materials may be employed, and as illustrated, are circular in contour, although the same, and consequently the entire case, may be of any other suitable contour, such as square, hexagonal, octagonal or the like. -The circular case being preferable need only be described and illustrated, the description and Specification of letters Patent.

The struts serve to support the top and it will benoted that they connect the margin portions of the base and top. .The struts are also preferably equally spaced from each other, .the struts 12 and 14: serving as door jambs and providing a doorway.

The door frame embodies the stiles15 and 16 connected at the upper and lower ends by the curved or arcuate rails 16, the stile 15 being hinged to the strut 12 and the stile 16 swinging to and from the strut 14 as the door is closed and opened. It will be noted that the doorway as well as the door extends completely between the base and top of the case and approximately one third of the circumference.

A screen or reticulated fabric of relatively fine mesh is secured to the struts 12, 13, and

14 and to the shell 6 and molding 11 so .as to provide foraminous Walls or sides for the case. A similar screen or fabric 18 is secured to the door frame, the entire screening providing a cylindrical casing through which the air may pass so as to ventilate the contents, and preventing the ingress of insects or the like.

Similar strips 19 are secured to the stiles of the door frame, the complementary strips cooperating to provide split bands for reinforcing the casing.

Various fruits, vegetables, nuts and other commodities may be supported within, the

case, andfor rotary movements, in order that the respective commodities may be turned to a position so as to be readily accessible through the doorway. Thus, as depictedin Fig. 3, the hook 20 is swiveled to the top 10, and from which a bunch of bananas or the like may be hung or suspended, the hook permitting the same tobe rotated as desired.

As depicted in Fig. 1, a shaft 21 is terminally journaled to the end plate and top, the bed plate 7 supporting an anti-frictional bearing 22 receiving the lower end of the shaft 21, so that the shaft and its attachments may be readily rotated when desired. To the shaft 21 are secured a plurality of dislrs or circular shelves 23 which have the upturned peripheral relatively narrow flanges 24%. A plurality of radial partitions 25 are supported by each shelf 23, in this case four, so as to divide the shelf into four compartments, the partitions being inserted between the shaft 21 and the respective flange 24L. It may be desirable to have two opposite partitions of each shelf rigidly attached, while the other partitions are renovable so that four small or two large compartments may be provided, as is desirable. It is to be noted, in this connection, that the inner and outer ends of the radial partitions are relatively wide and narrow, respectively, and slidably engage the shaft and flanges, respectively, whereby the partitions will be held against radial movement by the flanges and are adapted to be withdrawn vertically from between the shaft and flanges.

It will thus be evident that the various compartments may be employed for containing various fruits, vegetables or nuts, so that they may be suitably displayed through the reticulated casing, and in order that when the door is opened, the various commodities may be readily turned toward the doorway,

so that ready access may be had thereto.

From the foregoing, taken in connection with the drawin the various advantages and capabilities or the present device will be apparent to those versed in the art, and need not be itemized at length, it being noted that the objects aimed at have been carried out satisfactorily.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A display case including a door, an upright shaft journaled within the case, a phr ra lity of circular shelves carried by the shaft, and each having an upturned p-ripheral relatively narrow flange, and a plurality o1 radial partitions seated on each shelf a having their inner and outer ends relatively wide and narrow, respectively, and slidably engaging the shaft and the respective flange, respectively, the partitions being held agaii. qt radial movement by the flanges and being adapted to be withdrawn vertically from between the shaft and flanges.
