To all whom it ma/y concern Be it known that I, BENJAMIN M. REEVES, of the,

city of Franklin, in the county 'of Venango and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Flax-Pullers; rand I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact-description of the construction land operation of the same, reference being had tothe annexed drawing making a part of this specication and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

My invention has relation to machines for pulling flax', Aand It consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices designed to pull the flax from theA ground without injuring the ber of' the plant.

The letter A ofthe drawing represents the body of the carriage, upon which the drivers seat is arranged.

, K represents the gathering-reel, made very rrn and strong, and designed to press the flax against theforward-bearing roller.

' L represents the forward -hearing roller, around which the ilax is bent by the action of the reel.

M designates an endless apron passing around the rollers L L', and designed' to convey the dax to the rear', depositing it upon the ground through the inl clined` funnel or tapering guide-way N attached to the frame B. The flax may bedeposited upon a snitable platform attached to the frame 'B if thought advisable'.-

Rigidly secured to the inner end of the reel-shaft is a largespur-wheel, b, arranged to engage with the pinions c c, secured to the ends of the rollers L L.
