FIGURE TOY.
aaaaa.
Application filed March 18, 1914. Serial No. 825,623;
To all whom it may concern. a
Be it known that I, HENRY M. MILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Foster, in the county of Boone, State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Figure Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in figure toys, and more particularly to toys which simulate a person dancin I The invention has for its object to provide motor casing of a graphophone and will'be actuated by the turn table or platform.
A further objectof the invention is to provide a dancing figure which will "be set in motion during the rotation of the turn table or platform of the graphophone so V that duringthe playing of the graphophone the antics of the figure will afford amusev ment.
With these and other objects in viewythis invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a gra'phophone showing the device attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig.- 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view of the device, the parts thereof being in section. Fig. 4 is a'fragmentary bottom plan view of the turn table.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the casing of a graphophone of a well known construction which contains a motor for rotating the turn table 2 for supporting the disk records. 7 Having its lower end fixed to the top of the casing 1 is an arm 3, preferabl formed from wire andflhas its upper en formed with a hook 4 for engagement by the other end-of the cord q whichsuspends the figure 6, the arms and so that when movement is imparted to the figurethe same will simulate dancing.
To agitate the figure a flat spring arm legs of which are jointed Specification of Letters {Patent Patented Mair. 11915.,
7 is provided and has one end fixed to the top of the casing l and is provided with an upwardly bowed portion 8 intermediate its ends, the purpose of which will appear later. Supported ,by the outer end of the arm 7 is a platform 9 which is so disposed that the same will be directly under the figure'so. that the feet thereof rest thereupon. The arm 7 engages the loop 10 which is supported by the top of the casing 1, said loop servingto. retain the arm in a position so that the platform 9 will be subjected tosharp vibrations.
. The underface of the turn table 2 is provided with lu s11, said lugs being detachthe bowed portion 8, of the arm 7 during the rotation of the table, thus imparting vibration to the arm and platform to actuate the figure. -I'do not however wish to be limited to this particular form of lug, as for instance, the turn tables of difi'erent makes'of machines are frequently provided with annular flanges, and when applying the invention to such machines the construction of the lugs will necessarily need to be somewhat modified.
Fromthe foregoing description itwill be seen that during the rotation of. the turn ably secured t ereto and adapted to engage a toy which can be readily. applied to the.
table that vibratory motion will be imparted 7 to the arm, thus'actuating the, figure to simulate a person dancing. If desired, a
pair of figures may be employed, which is.
readily accomplished by slightly changing the formation of the arm 3. What is claimed is The combination with a casing having a motor driven turn table, of lugs carried by the turn table, a resilient arm having one end fixed .to the casing; and its other end provided with a platform, said arm having a central upwardly bowed portion, a figure suspended adjacentthe casing, movement being imparted to the figure during the rotation of the turn table and when the lugs carriedthereby contact with the bowed'por tion."', m.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
