DRINKING-CU]? DISPENSER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 16, 1915;
' Application filed February 27, '1914. Serial No. 821,452.
This invention relates to dispensing devices and particularly to that class employed to dispense collapsible drinking cups.
The object is to provide such a device adapted to contain and hold any of the well-known types of collapsible, sanitary, drinking cups for individual use and to permit the free withdrawal of such-a cup therefrom. Another object is to provide av device of this character which will permit the Withdrawal of substantially only one cup at a.
rim and will automatically feed the remaining cups in the magazine successively into the position of the one removed.
A still further object is: to permit a clear display of one faceof the forwardmost cup in the device, upon the face of which cup may be printed any desired advertisement, legend, or other indicia.
Further objects and advantages of the invention are fully brought out in the following specification, when read in conjunc tion with the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the same.
Referring to the drawing, a casing is shown as comprising front, rear and side walls 1, 2 and 3, respectively, said rear wall being supported by projecting brackcts 4, in spaced relation with any object 5 to which it may be desired to secure the same, such for instance as the side of a railway car, building, etc. The bottom of said casing is closed by a wall 6, having any desired shape, preferably ornamentally curved, while a false bottom 7 slants up- 'wardly and rearwardly from the union of said bottom Wall 6 with the front Wall 1,
bothof said bottoms being provided with apertures 8 at their point of union, while Ynanions,
the front wall is provided with an aperture 9, the latter aperture permittin the thumb to engage the forward collapse cup 10, to draw the same downwardly through the former. "Within said casing, and above and substantially parallel with the false bottom wall 7 is apair of rods 11, secured to the front and rear walls 1 and 2, a.nd
adapted to guide the cups, as they progress toward the outlet. Also, above and substantially parallel with these rods is a second pair of rods 12, similarly secured, and adapted to slidably carry a weight 13, having projecting eyes 14 surrounding the rods,
' as well as to'offer an additional guide means for the cups.
The front wall is provided with an opening 14, surrounded by a frame 15, having a groove "16, in which is held a glass 17, through which anycharacters 18 previously printed, or otherwise placed-upon the front of thecups, may be easily seen. The top of the casing is closed by a suitably shaped cover 19, hinged at 20, and providedwith any suitable form of locking device 21. From this construction, it is obvious that, after the casing has been partially or entirely filled with drinking cups in collapsed form, and the weight 13 permitted to slide by gravity until it presses against the rearmost thereof, one or more of thecups may be readily taken from the frontof the-dd vice as hereinbefore described, but only one at the time, as the forward cup is removed, said weight operating to force those behind forwardly against the wall'l and into position for withdrawal.
From this description it is obvious that a dispensing. device has been constructed which, is extremely simple and inexpensive in construction and highly etlicient in operation.
within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
I claim In a drinking cup dispenser, the combination with a casing having an exit opening and adapted to contain thedrinking cups, of rods in the casing for guiding the drink ing cups toward the exit opening, and a weight mounted, to slide on one of the rods 9'5 Numerous changes can, however, lint made therein which Wlll continue to fall to bear against the drinking cups and 00- operating With the rods to guide and move the same toward the exit opening, said weight hanging vertically to facilitate the guiding of the drinking cups by the said rods 25nd Wheneby the dninking cups will be held in'avertic-aI position by the Weight bearing against the innermostdrinking cup ALFRED/H, SCULL, J 11., SAMUEL STITES, r.
