To whom et may concern Be A.it known that we, HEMAN s.' GUnNnY and HORACE MERRILL, of Memphis, in the count-y of Macomb and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ghurns.; and-we do def clare that the followingis a true and accurate descrip tion thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters, of reference marked thereon and being a part of this -specilcatiom in which- Figure 1 is a perspective.

This invention relates. to that class of 'implements for making butter, so constructed that a most thorough and rapid release of the fatty mattei' from the globules of the cream is accomplished, thereby rendering the process of butter-,making a short and pleasant one.

The invention consists- First, rn a dasher. of .novel construction, so formed that it most thoroughly agitates the cream and separates the fatty mattei', which, when so separated and gathered, makes the butter.

By means of these bolts ay the standard, which is bifurcated, as shown in fig. 2, is secured to the side of the body and near its top.

To the lower end of this dasbererod is secured the winged flasher J, which is constructed in the form shown in fig. 3, the wings s having outwm'd-curved surfaces, r, at each end, and a rectangular opening, t', in

its center, whose ends are beveled as at w. l

rIhese wings s should nearly fill the circumference ofthe interior ofthe body, and within the opening u! and at right angles with the wings s is secured the shorter double wedge-shaped wings fc.

lhis peculiar form of dasher is found veryelective,

especially when it receives a semi-rotary vibrating mo# tion from tbe mechanism hereinbefore described.

lhe operation of this churn is so simple that t'ur. ,therde'scription thereof is deemed unnecessary in this specitication.

W'he'n it is desired to remove the dasher for'any purpose, the thumb-nut should be loosened and the plate removedv from the standard, when the. cover and dasher maybe taken out.

What we claim as our invention, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
