The various shaping tools are arrange. on the successive disks in the order of their opn eration., and in the apparatus shown in the drawings threeshaping tools are employed, Veach performing one step; the whole operation being completed in three steps. Anynurnber of shaping tools can be employed, however, depending on the number of steps vnecessary to complete the operation, the number of disks depending on the number of shaping tools.
The apparatus is voperation upon a frame or table provided with legs or supports 3 for holding the table at suicient height to allow the driving mechanism to be arranged beneath.
The disks 4, 5, 6 having the. shaping tool dies 7-8-9 formed on their circumerences are mounted Jfor rotation above the table Z. Many other changes could be made in the apparatus as shown and described Without departing Jfrom the spirit of my invention, which I wish to be construed broadly as set forth in the claims at the end of this specitication.
l. n anapparatus of the character described, the combination of a plurality of disks having shaping tools formed n their circumterences, a guide extending partly around each disk and being spaced apart therefrom and concentric therewith, said guides and disks forming a tortuous passage, a shaping tool on each-guide corresponding to the shaping tool on the coacting disk and means for rotating the disks.
In an apparatus vof the character described, a plurality of disks having shaping tools formed on their circuinferences adapted to perform the successive steps in working thc blank, the successive shaping tools being formed' with increasing radii, means for holding the blanks in contact with the tools and lmeans for rotating the disks.4
