Be it known that I CARL H. Bissnnn, a

citizen of the United tates, and a resident of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of'New York, have invented a certain new and useful Conduit-Outlet Fitting, of which the following is a specification.

'This invention hasfor its object the production of a conduit outlet fitting, particularly applicable for fixtures as chandeliers andthe like, used in places as railway cars where there is excessive vibration; and the invention consists'in the novel features of construction hereinafter set forth and claimed. i

In describing this invention reference is had .to the accompanying drawing in which like characters designate. corresponding parts in all the views. j Figure 1 is a'vertical sectional viewkpartly in elevation, of this conduit outlet tting.

This fitting comprises generallyY an outlet .box having an opening in one side thereof, substantially centrally of the opening and connected to the box, a cover or canopy for closing the opening, the cover having an opening or passage for the pipe and being connected to the box, and means connecting the cover or canopy to the 1 e. 1 Pg is a conduit outlet' fitting having an opening 2 in one side thereof, the box also having means, as internally threaded nip` ples 3, for connection with the conduits 4 inclosing the service wires.

5 is the pipe extending centrally of the opening2 and is detachably connected to the box 1 as by screw threads, this pipe being for the purpose of inclosing the wires connected to the electric appliances or lamp sockets of the chandelier and also for the purpose of supporting such appliances.

As here shown, the box is formed with a through the opening 2 substantially centrally thereof, and the pipe 5 .threads into said nipple.

The nipple is preferably formed integral with the bottom of the box and is formed 5 with passages inits sides, as shown at 7,

Aand box 1 are of diiferent pitch so that the tendency of one of the parts 5, 8 to unscrew is resisted bythe other of said parts.

.In operation, the cover can be readily removed for permitting access to the Wires within the box 1 by first loosening the nut 15 and then Unscrewing the cover and sliding the same down the pipe, and after the cover is again tightened into position, it, as well as the other screw threaded parts, are .held from unintentional turning.

My conduit outlet tting consists of a minimuml number of parts, and is simple and strong in construction and affords for a branch pipe two means of support spaced apart lengthwise of said pipe, one supporting means bein of relatively small diam eter and fixed irectly to the body of the iitting, and the other supporting means being the cover, which is secured at its middle portion to the branch pipe beneath or beyond the first-mentioned point of support ing means, the cover serving in eifect as a brace between/the branch pipe and the body of the fitting. p

What I claim is:

1l A conduit outlet fitting com rising a box having an opening in one si e, a p1 e arranged substantiall centrally of t e opening and connecte to thebox by screw threads, and a cover for the open side of the box, the cover being connected to the box by screw threads, and having a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose speciiied.

2. A conduit outlet fitting com rising a box having an opening in one si e, a p1 e arranged substantially centrally of t e opening and connected to the box by screw threads, a cover for the open side of the box, the cover being connected to the box by screw threads, and having a passage for the pipe,and means connecting the -pipe andthe cover, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box having an opening in one side, a plpe arranged substantially centrally of the opening and connected to the box by screw threads, and a cover for the open side of the box, the cover being connected to the box by screw threads of diii'erent character than those connecting the pipe and the box, the cover having a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box having an opening in one side and also a nipple projecting from the bottom thereof toward the opening substantially centrally thereof, a pipe connected by screw threads to the nipple, and a cover for the open side of the box, the cover having an opening through which the pipe passes and being connected to the open side of the box by screw threads2 substantially as and for the purpose described. l

A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box having an opening in one side and also a nipple rejecting from the bottom thereof toward tiie lopening substantially centrally thereof, the nipple having a passage-.in its side openin into the box, a p1 e connected to the nipp e, and a cover for t e open side of the box, the cover having an opening through which the pipe passes andbeing connectedto the open side of the box' substantially as and for the purpose specified.

6. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box having an opening in one side and a so a nipple projecting from the bottom thereof toward the opening substantially centrally thereof, a(` pipe connected to the nipple, a cover for the open sidey of the box, the cover having an olening through which the pi e passes and ein secured directl tot e open side of the ox, and means or secur- `through which the pipe ing thecover to the pi e, substantially as and for the vpurpose set orth.

substantially as and for the purpose described.

ll. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a. box provided with' concentric securing. means fixed relatively to the body of the box, the portion of the box opposed to the space inclosed vby the outer securing means being open, a pipe detachably secured to the mames inner securing means, and a cover detachably secured to the outer securing means and having a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose described.

12. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box provided with concentric securing means fixed relatively to the body of the box, the portion Aof the box opposed to the space inclosed by the outer securing means being open, a pipe detachably secured to the inner securing means, a cover detachably secured to the outer securing means and having a passage for the pipe, and means for securing together contiguous portions of the pipe and the cover at a point beyond the point of engagement of the inner securing means and the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

13. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box provided With fianges, one inclosing the other, the ends of the flanges being exposed at one side ofthe box and the spaces in# closed by said flanges opening through said side of the box, a pipe detachably secured to the inner fiange, and a cover detachably secured to the outer flange and having a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

14. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box provided with fianges, one inclosing the other, the ends of the flanges being exposed at one side of the box and the spaces inclosed by said flanges opening through said side of the box, a pipe detachably secured to the inner fiange, a cover detachably secured to the outer flange and having a passage for the pipe, and means for securing together contiguous portions of 4the pipe and the cover at a point be ond the inner flange, substantially as and or the purpose described.

15. A conduit outlet fitting'comprising a box provided with fian es, one inclosing the other', the ends of the anges being exposed at one side of the box and the spaces inclosed by the fianges opening through said side of the box, the outer end of the inner flange projecting beyond the corresponding 'end of the outer fiange, a pipe detachably secured to the inner fiange, and a cover detachably secured to the outer fiange and having. a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose s ecified.

16. A conduit outlet tting comprising a box having its base provided with a projecting nipple and with an upright Wall surrounding the nipple, the outer end of the box being open, a pipe detachably secured to the nipple, and a cover detachably secured to said Wall and having a passage for the pipe, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

17. A conduit outlet fitting comprising a box having its base provided With a projecting nipple and with an upright wall surrounding the nipple, the outer end of the nipple and the corresponding side of the box being open, a pipe detachably secured to the nipple, a cover -detachably secured to saidswall and having a passage for 'nipple and the corresponding side lof the l the pipe, and means for securing together contiguous portions of the pipe and cover at a point beyond the nipple,.substantially as and for the purpose described.
