To all who/m t may concern: i Be it known that we, ANTHONY MILLER and HENRY RUMPEL, citizens of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvevments in Christmas-Tree Stands or Holders, of which the following is a specilication.
his invention relates to Christmas tree stands or holders, and its primary object is to provide a device bf this character which is simple inental in appearance, convenient and eilicient in use and adapted to be economically manufactured.
further object of the invention is to provide a stand to contain a store of water for absorption by the tree, so that it will preserve a lifelike appearance, and which is also adapted for the reception of a weighty substance to counterbalance the weight .of the tree and 4provide aY firm support without the necessity of fastening the floor or other foundation.
The invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which` Figure 1 is a central vertical section through aChristmas tree stand or holder embodying the invention; and Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same In carrying the invention into practice, we provide a stand or holder comprising a frusto-conical vessel 1, preferably made of sheet metal and designed to contain a suitable quantity of water 2. The tube is removable with the cover and, is provided in its sides with openings 16 for the play of the water thereinto, so Cthat the water will Vcome into contact .with lthe inserted trunk of the tree for absorption by the tree, thereby preventing thetree from drying out and thus preserving a life-,like appearance.
A tree stand or holder constructed in accordance with this invention may be economically manufactured and sold at a low cost, is not unattractive in appearance, and affords the numerous advantages stated. It will, of course, be understood that while the structure shown is preferred, modifications of various kinds, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
