it will be noticed that the box and nut G revolve aty the same time, which is a new and very important feature.

When a wooden'screw is used, then the uut is formed in the longitudinally-bisected top timber B, as above mentioned, and a stationary beam, L, is used for guiding the same.

Ou top of the wooden screw is placed a-l stationary lever, M, confined to the screw by a feather, d, enteringin the groove on the screw. t

lhis lever is provided, at its outer end, with a rope, to be attached to a stationary object, for the purpose ofv holding the piu while the box revolves. l

Having thus fully described my invention, \Vhat l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is l. In the cotton-press herein described, the lever M and rope, in combination with the screw I, as shown and described, for the purposesset forth.
