i. Figure l ofthe drawing' is a representationof our bee-hivein perspective view', i
.Figure 2 isau enlarged longitudinal vertical sec' tion,and 'Y .f i
` `Figure' Sisan enlarged; transverse vertical sectionv of thesame;
. `The natureof our invention consists in. the couhereinafter fnlly'se't folth; i l
struction and `arrangement of a `bee-hive, as will be AArepresent the end`.pieces ofthe hive, and are composed ofposts connected byboards, the posts extending belowthe ends proper, so as to-form feet for thehive to rest upon.
,i `.r'lhe itwo endlpieces Aare connected on 'each l Yslde by means of twobars,"0 O',\secured to the posts of one end piece, audtenons on the `other ends of said bars `passing=tbroi`1gh mortises in the posts'of the The bar O isfplaced neartth'e upper 'ends of' the end pieces A A, and thebar C'at Vanyvsuitable point below'thefornler;

The inner sides ofthe bars BB are provided with .i grooves or ]edg`es,lon which a sliding bottom, D, is
placed, `its upper Vrace being so far below'the lower edge ofthe panels of the end Apieces as to form a convenient entrance for the bees.
` `hive to` top of honey-chamber. In `order to enable. others skilled in` .the art to` 'which our inventonappeitains to lmake and use the same, we wilt howl-proceed co-describe its' construction and ope1'ation,wreierring to theannened.` drawing.` f
' i The Schedule referred toV these LettersvPatent and making part of the same.
'lhe comb-frames consist oi' end'bars E E, connected by square comb-guides b'b. f The end bars E E of said comb-frames rest upon the bars .B B, and reach up to a short distance below the upper edges of the bars C C, the said end bars E forming the entire sides ofthe hive, and lilling up the whole space between the end pieces -A A.
InA the upper end of each comb-frame is placed a honey-frame,composed ofthe top bar G, vertical rods d d, and lower triangular guide f, as shown in iig. 5. The ends of the top bars Gr rest upon the upper ends of the end bars E E, and -iill up the space lush with the upper sides of the bars O O.
' On thertop ofthe honeysii'ames is laid a glass plate, e, and the entire hivecovered 4by a lid, H.
A` hive made in this manner' may-have as many flames or divisions as may be desired. These divisions avoid the air-spaces in 4a hive where there f should be comb, and they also make the comb movable. f r A.It will be noticed that the guides b b are arranged atdiiierent levels in the hive for the purpose of giving the bees comb to travel on from bottom of the This arrangement does awayr with all holes orrplacesfor the beesto cra-Wl through to get into top boxes oreframcs..
The horizontal guides f j' of the-honey-i'rames are also arranged'at dilerent heights, to correspond with theposition of the upper system of guides d d;
Having thus fully described our invention,
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1f-. 1n a, bee-hive, comb-frames and honey-frames constructed'substantially as herein described, so that the honey-frames will be within the upper ends of the comb-flames, 'as set forth.
2.' The combination oi' the' end pieces A A, barsB C C, bottom D, comb-frames E b, honey-trames Grd f, glass plate e, and lidA H, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth;
' In testimony that we claim* the above we have here unto subscribed our namesy in th'e presence oi' two witnesses.`
