Referring to the drawings, a body l of a heel built of the usual material arranged in lifts, is recessed on its base to receive a cup {Zlof thin sheet metal or like material which 1s" secured 1n place as by screws 3 or like ysuitable means'. The edge portion 4i of the cup is arranged to project a little from the base of the heel when the latter is new and asthe latter wears away presents a thin edge which cuts into and holds the heel firmly on an otherwiseslippery surface. What i claim is A heel having a concave recess formed centrally in the bottom thereof, a metallic cup snugly engaging the walls of said recess and secured therein at diametrically opposed points and presenting an annular edge depending froin said heel and removed from the side edges of said heel.) and a resilient` block mounted in said cup and fastened centrally thereto with the fa sfening means countersunlr in said block, said block having a convex surface engaging the walls of said cup and the remaining surface of said block being removed from the plaine of the annular edge of said cup.
