The invention relatesto reinforcing bar supports for use in concrete construction.
The primary object of the invention 1s the provision of a support wherein the saving of time and labor in positioning and holding the reinforcing bars in concrete walls, flooring or other portions of a building is attained, thereby obviating the necessity of the use of tie wires or other similar holding devices ordinarily used.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a support of this character wherein the reinforcing bar can be firmly clamped and held in rigid position so that the same will become embedded within the concrete wall when formed.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a support of this character which can be made from a single blank of sheet metal and can be secured to one of the forms used in constructing the concrete wall, flooring or the like to hold the reinforcing medium such as steel bars, rods, or other similar devices.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a support which is simple in construction readily and easily applied both to the concrete form and the reinforcing bar to be embedded in the concrete wall or the like and also which can be manufactured at a minimum expense.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawing :Figure 1 is a fragmentary sectional view through a concrete wall showing one of the supports in side elevation and another at right angles thereto for the holding of the reinforced bars or rods. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of one of the supports.

Referring to .the drawing in detail, A designates a concrete wall, B the forms for constructing the wall, and C the reinforced steel bars or rods embedded in the wall, one bar 'being disposed vertically and the other horizontally at right angles thereto. tion and is held in position between the forms prior to the filling of concrete therebetweenfor constructing the wall in a man ner presently described.
Each support comprises a bracket formed. with divergent legs 5, an arched medial portion 6 and bendable extensions or fingers 7, the same being cut from the legs and are adapted to be bent inwardly toward each other to embrace the rods U when seated in the bowed portion 6 of the bracket for the holding of the rods thereby. The bracket is formed from a single blank of metal, and
its legs 5 near the free ends thereof are slightly out-struck to provide bulges 8, while in the said legs 5 at the inner ends of the bulges are apertures 01' openings 9 through which are passed nails 10, the same being driven into the form B against which the legs 5 of the bracket rest for the securing of the. bracket to said forms. When the bracket is fastened to the form B and the reinforced steel bar or rod C is clamped by the fingers 7 in the bowed portion 6 of the said bracket the said rod or bar will be properly positioned and held so as to become embedded in the wall A when being contween theforms B as is usual.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the device will be clearly understood, and there fore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is 1. A bracket comprising divergent legs, a medial bowed portion forming a seat adapted to receive a reinforced steel rod, tongues cut from the legs and adapted to be bent about'the rod when engaged in the seat to fasten the bracket thereto, and perforated bulges outstruck from the legs near the free ends thereof for receiving fasteners to secure the bracket in rigid position to a support.
