United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have inventeda certainnew and useful Improvement. in Protective Devices, of which the follovving'is a full, clear, concise, and exact description. reference being had to the a'ccompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
Our invention relates to .protective devices.,
and liasfor its object the provision of an l improved device of this character which "room:
combines in a simple structure a 'lightning arrester and apair of'fuse elements to be used preferably in connection-with low current systems.
Ouv-invention contemplates the provision of a very simple structure for readily removing and inserting fuse elements and also an improved Alightning arrester constructed so that the parts aremounted closely together to 'occupy a min'nnum amount of We fwill explain one formy of carrying out our invention more in detail by referring to the accompanying drawing in which: l

In the illustration we show an insulating basel preferably made of porcelain or siming 9 formed partly b ilar material which carries the mounting devices both for the lightning arrester and the fuseielements. Two fuse elements 2 and-3 'are provided which are held between springs 4 and 5. respectively. The springv is shown more" in detail in Fig'. 4 where it is shown as being provided with a longitudinal slit 6, and an 'enlarged portion 7 of this slit is near the upper extremity.- The fuse elements are each provided `with projecting fingers 8, 8 at their opposite extremities and ythe thickness of these 'ngers is such that they will be readily accommodated within the enlargement 7 but in reaching the position Within this enlargement the two tiiies lof the spring 5 must be bent apart as is readily apparent.
