To aZZ flo/omit may concern:
Be it known that l, MICHAEL KREozKow- SKI, a subject ofthe Emperor of Austria- Hungary, residing at New Yorlnin the county of New York and" State of New York, have inventedy certain new and useful Improvements in VVardrobe-Bed Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in wardrobe bed cabinets.
An object ofthe invention is the provision of a unitary structure combining a `wardrobe or dresser with a folding bed andwhereby the wardrobe and drawers togetherwith the table top of the dresser may be utilized while the bed is entirely hid from view and a portion of the `structure is unfoldable in the bed form wliichbrings into use a hidden mattress and spring element.
-A further Objectis to provide'a complete" cabinet of ornamental form and symmetrical outline adaptable'in the day time as a' dresser having va wardrobe and `drawer `por- `tion as well as a ,servi'ceable'table top but which in ythe night time may be partially' unfolded into the form ofa bedstead struc? l ture upon whichv isreadily Y accommodated a sleeping mattress normally hid 'from v`viewr at the rear of the cabinet.` i A still further object is'to provide a vcabinet which will be easyand` cheap to manufacture and which will incorporate" in' a single 4article of furniture the entire" uses and advantages of two household articles.
Still another Objectis toprovi-de a ward# robe cabinet normally hiding yfrom view thel mattress and spring memberand having a table formation suitably hinged for unfolding into bed form and including means for `readily bringing the spring mattress into the requisitey sleeping position thereuponas well .as returning the same toits packed or inclosed position.r i j With these general objectsin view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination andarrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims. .a
In the drawings forming a part of'this application and in which like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views z-Figure 1 isa perspective view of the combination .extension 17f ofthe casing. 1

and Fig. 5 is a detail vertical `sectional viewv hinge formation yshown in' Fig. 3.
Referring more in detail to the drawings,
the main cabinet 10 as best seen in Fig. 1 is j readilvadaptable for vuse, as a dresser having f for use the wardrobe" or `upper storing chamber 11y vprovided `with -glass closure able shelving 13, whilev positioned therebe- 'neath are provided a; plurality of drawers doors i2 annif desiredffumished .Wetsuitfront supporting legs' 16 and the rear lower i yThe corners @of structure "support bers 18 suitably spaced apart. The table 15 I a areconnected by v.superposed diagonal brace mem'- of the cabinet has a back portion 19 and provided with openingsl 2O whichr fit 'over the oted by the hinges 21 with a downwardly extending leg leaf 22 as wellas a supporting leaf 23L which latter is hinged as at 24 to the cut-out top face 25 of the front legs 16.
The leaf leg 22 restingupon the Hoor is restrained fromA further movement upon its hinge 21 toward the table top l5 while av saidf latch being adapted for engagement in a cut-out notch 53 in the adjacent face of the supporting leaf. 23 as plainly indicated in Fig. 2. A narrow leaf 26 is hinged ybeneath the rear edge of the table top 15 and is pro-y vided adjacent its 'opposite ends withsuitableijpilleys 27 for a` purpose hereinafter de` SCIl e drawer members 141, I,while the table is pivj suitable; latch 50 is mounted by auniversal vjoint 51 within a depression 52 of one 'orj bothsides of the'leg leaf 22, the free end of By referring to Fig. 2 it will be apparent vided in duplicate as best seen in vlf`ig. 4k andy having the front sections thereof notched as v"at 32 tor seat upon and engage-notches or i ously with the assuming of an inverted position of the table and its rear portion 19. it will be noted that theopenings of said rear portion allow the latter to be moved laterally and then inverted without disturbing the drawers 14 while the rear portion 19 will Contact withthe floor 28 as will'also the free end of the leg leaf 22 both of which will thereby forniV legs for the. bed frame which will consist essentially of the table Vl5 .Q and supporting leaf 23, the front legs 16 of the cabinet also suppcrting the leaf 23, which latter is hinged thereto. The narrow leaf is then moved uponits hinges 29 vertically and forming the footboard of the bedv stead insubs'tantial alinement with the foot ysupport formed by theinverted extension i9.
The supporting leaf 23 being of the inverted channel shape in cross section, itis desired to substantially fill inthe same when lying in the horizontal' position shown in.
vdotted linesin Fig. v2 .andv serviceable as a mattress support by.A means of an extension "formed of hinged sections 8O which are not c only hinged together but also to the rear ledgeor shelf 3l of the cabinet, :it being,
noted that, such hinged structure vis proc ledgesBB to which they are complemental and formed in the edgefof the cut outcporv. tion of the supporting leaf 23. v c
AQsuitable fabric or mat 84rofany struc-A 35' ture desired .is secured'to the upper faces of theA hinged sections s() that upon a folding "of said sections `the inat will likewise be i tfolded as :illustratedvr in Fig. 2. and upon an extensionof the sections the mat will be unbedstead bottom. y
At each side of thetable the side folded and assist in forming the complete varehinged at their indented bottom. por- -"tions '36 to. the ledge 3ll and the tops of the legslG in such a manner as to be outwardly.` swungl into substantially horizontal position as "shown in Fig. 4 and having the mat 34 secured to the upper sides of said leaves.
At therear ofthe upright portion of the cabinet l0, thespace 27'is adapted for hidi. ingthe spring mattress 38 therein ywhen such mattress isfnot designed foruse-upon the .bed`a At the foot of the mattress and at y'opposite sides thereof there are secured as at 89 the cables 40 which pass over thenarrow leaf pulleys 27 and thence rearwardly over the bottoni pulleys 4l adjacent the rear wall v. loftlief cabinet from whence they pass upwardly and over the top pulleys 42 secured to the roof 43 of the cabinet and are thence secured to the mattress as at 44 to the opposite sides thereof and adjacent the upper y Y ,end of the saine when in its stored position.
ltwill be seen that uponk unfolding the table sections including the leg and supythe spring mattress 38. .inwardly upon the upper laps ofthe cable404 which pass over the foot-board pulleys '275 l leaves porting lea-ves, that the vbed. frame illustrated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 is formed with thevfoot-board 26 having thepulleys 27 Y i thereof and over which the cables 40 are eiitended inv theV manner noted.
rlhe hinged sections are then brought into engagement side leaves turnedhorizontally and the mat 34 entirely opened up7 thus completing the Y flat bed bottom ready 'for the reception of it will be seen that as the ends thereof are secured to the bottom A,of the .spi/ing mattress 'l By pulling for iwith the edge v'of the supporting leaf and at 39, that the mattress will be pulled from its vertical stored position beneathl and in contact with the'longer rollermember 45 until the same assumes a 4horizontal position' upon the bed bottonifso formed' vand with foot-board 26 all as shown in dotted lines in ylTig.2. Y
The foldedcabinet beingespecially de-y signed for use during the vday time las illus-` trated in Fig. l as a dressing table cabinet,
the above operation illustrates its mannen' of use when desired to utilize theV bed forma` tion thereof by extending the bed leaves and the springmattress thereupon and it is now also evident that when the mattress is so'` positioned horizontally and itis desiredto'r se `the cable engagement points 39 adjacent the again restorefithe saine by positioning it veronly necessary to vp'ullnpon'the lower laps force so exerted l'will movev the mattress .in f their reverse direction beneath the :roller`45 until entirelykwithdrawn inzits stored posi.-
tion within the cabinet chamber BTQ It' is Yiio i then only necessary vto foldfup the side leaves ,n
35 and the hinged sections 30 with the niatr 34 carriedthereby and to then restore the liable leg vand 'supporting leaves normally to i... v. 115 noted Athat `the front supporting leaf 23 again restore ythe day time cabinet, `it'being against which the hinged sections abut will retain such sections folded whilethe leg leaf 22 resting uponjthe top surfaces25 will lock the table top rmembers in the closed cabinet form.
By such formation itis readily seen that` a unique devicefor carrying out the objects claimed thus providedr land lwhile the. L
forms of the invention herein shown and described are what are believed tobe preferable embodiments thereof, it is nevertheless .v
to be understood that minor changes may be made in the forni, proportion and details of construction without departing from the i prising a cabinet having `a shelf and drawer .suirit and scope ofv the invention as set forth inthe accompanying claims.- f
