- threshing machines.
' The object, of the invention is to provide SEPARATOR FOR THREsHING- vmonmns. r
v Patented Dec."15,:1914. Applicationlfiled April 1, 1e14.- Serial in). 828,871. Y
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK C. RoszMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cecil, inthe county of Paulding and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Separators for Threshing-Machines, of whichthe followingis a specification, reference being had to the "accompanying drawings.
. This'invention relates fto separators for an article of this "character which may, be operated for hauling clover the machine.
. which is arranged With the above and other objects in view, asv will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts of the separator, as will be hereinafter described and-claimed;
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like characters ofreference designate corresponding parts: spective of one form of the separator; Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view on an enlarged scale through the separator shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the elements employed in connection with the separator; Fig. 4- is a perspective detail view of a portion of a modified form of the separator; Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view, on an enlarged scale, through the separator shown in Fig. 4. y
In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 1 the separator comprisesfthree spaced frame bars 1, 2 and 3, the upper surfaces ':of which are provided 'withjangular steps 4;. These bars may be made of any suitable ma; terial, and are connected and rendered rigidby end bars 5. Securedto the 'side' b'ars1,
and 2 and extending any desired distance above the apices of the the forward end of vided with a similar guard '2' adjacent to the material is discharged.
Specification of Letters Patent. y
seed, separating pods from straw, and freeing grain and buckwheat from straw and weeds and dis scription that this form of Figure 1 is a view in per of the slats,
steps are guards 6,1 the separator being proa platform on which Secured to the steps of the frame bars are the slats 9, which, usually, 'are'constr'ucted .of-metal, and have their inner endwalls dis posed at an inward angle tothe. topof' the step to provide back walls-10 which serve to direct the separated grain into a suitable receptacle. The front and rear edgeportions of each pair of lslat's are connected by and upon certain'of thest ay boltsis disposed I a sleeve 13 having extensions 14,. the object of the stay bolts and sleeves 'jbeing'to prevent distortion of the slats ineith'er direction.
It will be seen from the. foregoing dethoroughly effective in separating the grain from the .material containing it, and that ample space is provided to permit escape of stubble and the like between the superposed danger of choking, the stay bolts serving to prevent any grainfrom slats without any escaping lengthwise, so that thorough hull ing will be secured. r
In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 4 and. 5 the construction of the frame the same, thedifierence residing in the ar rangement of slats. The front ends of the slats are provided with teeth15,.and, to the rear inclined portion of the-slats, on their under side,
separator will be are secured Vshaped back walls 16 which are secured to the slats by a rivet 17. This adapted for accomplishing the separation of finer grades of seeds,-but in both cases the. result aimed at is secured thoroughly practical manner.
I claim is Having thus described my invention what l In a separator for threshing machines, a
frame comprising stepped bars, slats secured to the frame bars and having obliquely disposed deflecting walls projecting below the upper surface of the slats, remov able bolts connecting the longitudinal edges tion of the slats.
In testimony whereofI hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
