To all whom it may concer-n.-

Be it known that I, WESLEY EDWARDS, of Indianapolis, county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and improved Implement for the Purpose of Driving Spokes in lHubs for Vehicles, Snc.; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings making apart of this specification.

My invention relates to a machine used in driving spokes into the hubs of wheels; and

vThe improvement consists in the combination andl arrangement of certain devices for holding the spokes in the proper position while being driven, so as to give the proper dish to the wheel;

The following description will enable those skilled in the art to construct my improved spoke-driver.

In the annexed drawing- A is the frame now commonly in use, and which does not form part of this inven'tion. There is also shown, in iig-3, a hub and spoke, which do not form a part of this invention. 4

B and Z are pieces of timber fastened rigidly tothe side of the frame A, and projecting vertically', having slots G and X.

In the slots O and X are inserted `the screw-bolts D and Erespectively, to which are attached the guide F and the spring G.

At the top' of the spring G, fig. 3, is attached a Y screw-bolt, P, 'with nuts on either side of the springhead, and by means oi said screw-bolt and spring more or less pressure may be placed on the spoke, holding it, in connection with guidesA F F,jin its place while y the end ofthe hub, and also assists in holding it in its place.

O O are screw-nuts, by means of which the screwbolts E maybe adjusted vertically in the slot C, 'and l also adjusted horizontally, to give the wheel more or less dish, or inclination ot" the spokes from thel hub.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination of the adj nstable screw-bolts E F and P F and adjustable spring G, all arranged to operate substantially as set forth.
