To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX Roorcsrnon, a citizen of the German Empire, and residing at Klein-Sedlitz, near Pirna, Saxony, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Platen Printing- Presses, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a pressure regulator having lever transmission for platen printing presses, wherein the handle which is grasped for disengaging the platen is so arranged that it can be moved, when removing the pressure, only in a direction opposite to the direction of motion of the platen on its pressure stroke, so that disengagement can be very conveniently eliected by merely grasping the handle without power needing to be exerted, and the stoppage of the mo tion can be thereby brought about. The members on which the levers for removing the pressure are fulcrumed are firmly clamped on the pressure regulating pins, in order that they may be accurately adjusted in height.
Platen presses having pressure regulators comprising lever transmission are already known, in which the pressure is removed by moving a handle arranged at the ends of the levers. In these devices, however, the members on which the levers are fulcrumed are rigidly connected with the pressure regulator pins. Hence it follows that the pressure regulator pin-needs to be fitted into the graduated indicator with extreme precision, for otherwise either too much or toolittle clearance would exist for the pressure regulator pins between the ways along which the ends of the levers move and the surfaces of the guiding eyes. As compared with these known devices, my above-described arrangement wherein the said members on which the levers are fulcrumed are arranged independent of the pressure re ulator pins and adjustable on the same, has the advantages resulting from exact adjustment and fitting, A' further improvement is the arrangement and form of the levers themselves. only in the direction opposite to that of the motion of the pressure stroke of the platen. It is consequently possible by simply grasping the handle to arrest the motion of the same and, as the platen moves still farther forward, to snap out the pressure regulator pins. Consequently the pressure is removed without trouble. In the known devices such removal of the pressure is not nearly so simple; for in these cases a special movement of the hand, a so-called knack, is always first requisite, which must be given in the same direction as that in which the platen moves during its pressure stroke.
One illustrative embodiment of my inventlon is represented by way of example in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figures 1 and 2 show the pressure regulator in side and end elevation, respectively; Fig. 8 is a plan, enlarged, showing one half of the pressure regulator; Figs. l and 5 are elevation and plan, respectively, showing the members for receiving the handle; Figs. 6 and 7 are elevation and plan, showing the lever for actuating the pressure regulator, and the attachment shackle for the lever.
