Be it known that I, ROBERT J. LEWERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newport News, Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toliet- Disinfectors, of which the following -is a specification.

The present invention relates to toilet disinfectors, and has for its principal object to provide a simple, efcient and economical means for supplying an antiseptic or deodorant to the bowl of a water closet.

A further object consists in so forming and arranging the device as to have it operate in a place, concealed from view, and yet at the same time readily accessible for the purpose of refilling.

iVith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts more fully described in the following specification, illustrated` in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a plan View of a closet seat showing one embodiment of the present invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow. Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view` of the appliance detached. Fig. 4 is a transverse section taken on the line 4E-el of Fig. 3. Figs. 5 and 6 are front elevation and plan views respectively of a slightly modified form of the invention.

- Referring to the drawing, and particularly to Fig. 1, a water closet seat is shown at 1, hinged at its rear edge as at 2 to the frame work 3. The disinfecting device which forms the subject matter of this application is secured to the underside of the closet seat and appears in this view in dotted unes.

The appliance itself consists of a metal tubular container 4, curved so as to conform with the contour of the rear portion of the seat 1 and secured to the underside thereof by means of screws or alike attaching means 5 which pass through the fiat end plates 6. The central portion of the tube is provided with end partitions 7 7 and forms a. reservoir chamber 8 provided with va centrally located inlet opening 9, adapted to be closed Sp'ecication of Letters Patent.

by a stopper or cork 10. At either end of the tube 4 adjacent the partitions 7 are two compartments 1l, having perforated walls. Une or more wicks 12 are passed through the container 4, through perforations in the partition walls 7 and project sufficiently out of the end chamber 11 to hang down into the bowl or basin of the closet. The filling neck or opening is formed on the inner curved side of the tube 4 so that as the seat is raised the neck assumesa vertical posi# tion. The disinfectant or deodorant which is in liquid form is poured into the fountain or reservoir chamber 8. From thence it is absorbed and conducted by the wick 12 to the basin. The end chambers 11 with perforated walls contain cotton packing or gauze upon which the moisture is rapidly evaporated, thusserving to produce fumigating effect on the surrounding air.

Referring to Figs. 5 and 6 the metal tubular container is here shown in a somewhat modified form. The main central part of the tube portion is slightly offset from the plane of the end compartments l1 as shown at el which are secured to the underside ofthe closet seat, so as to leave a space between the tube proper and the closet seat. The central part is also curved rearwardly as seen in plan view 4b in Fig. 6 which construction serves as a trap as well as `a fountain when the closet seat is raised to its vertical position.

The slow yet steady flow ofthe disinfectant solution into the basin at all times is very effective and requires no adjusting or regulating devices.

The appliance can be easily attached to any closet seat and once secured in positionv ing through 'thetubular container for conthrough the entire length of the container 10 ducting a steady flow of the disinfectant to and having its free ends projectingtherethe bowl below, substantially as described. from, substantially as described.
