circuit controllers. This circuit controller may be briefly described as follows: Mounted on the upturned ends of stri s 17 isa block 41 of insulating materia provided with a hole in which is located a trough 61 of electro-conductive material. This .trough carries a block 42 of electro-conductive material, preferably graphite, the
' upper surface of which is provided with .8
cylindrical recess as shown and described in the application by Harrington hereinbefore mentioned. Mounted to reciprocate in this recess is a hollow cylindrical member 43 of electro-conductive material, the curvature of which is substantially the same as that of the recess. This c lindrical member is clamped to a block 5 which is provided with a hole through which passes a stud 44 which is screwed into the lower end of plungerlQ. This stud carries a collar 4:5 which cannot pass through the hole in block 58.- \Vhen the plunger is raised by the solenoid from the, positioh in which it is shown in Fig. 1, the collar 45 strikes the block 58 when. the tapper 20 is about a quarter of an inch from the gong, so that during the remainder of the upward movement of the lunger the member 43 is moved to the eft about a quarter of an inch. Then as the plunger returns, its lower end strikes the block 58 when-about a quarter. of an inch from the lowest point of its stroke, thereby returning the. member 43 to the initial position. Fixed to the block 41 is a spring 67 in which is journaled a roller 46, which roller is so located as to be near the upper end of its stroke, and again closed when the lunger reaches a point near the lower en of its stroke.
The bell operating mechanism and the circuit controller are protected by a cover 49 which is attached to the bed 12 in any 70 suitable manner,
I do not claim my invention the circuit controller 40, this being the subject matter" of the hereinbefore mentioned copending application by Clinton 0. Harrington, filed December 11, 191.3, Serial No. 805,974, for circuit controllers.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. An electric bell.comprising a gong, a
solenoid mounted with its longitudinal axis inclined between the vertical and the horizontal, longitudinal race-ways in said solenoid, balls adapted to roll in said raceways, and a plunger adapted to roll on said 86 balls and to strike the gong. v
2. An electric bell comprising a gong, a solenoid mounted with its longitudinal axis inclined between the vertical and the hori zontal, longitudinal race-ways in'said sole- 90 noid, balls adapted to roll in said raceways, stops fixed in said race-ways to limit the downward movement of the balls, and a plunger adapted to roll on said balls and to strike the gong.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
