By removing the cylinder heads 19 the plungers 20 are withdrawn and the entire interior of the engine becomes accessible for cleaining or repairing while the spark plugs 22 are accessible at all times through the openings of the cylinder heads.
:VVhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A two cycle engine, comprising a cyl inder, a cylindrical piston operating therein, a stations plunger fitting within the cylindrical piston and forming a combustion chamber in the interior thereof, an extension on. the cylinder of larger diameter, a flange on the piston forming a trunk piston in the extension of the cylinder and. constituting .with the cylinder extension a compression m;aaiceiav t ew-being ports in the istofl caring the'plunger at the end of t e explosion stroke of the piston for establishing communication between the compression chamber and the combustion chamber, there being ports in the piston at the other end of the combustion chamber uncovered at the end of the explosion stroke of the piston throu h which the exhaust gases may be force by theincoming compressed charge from the com ression chamber, and an intake port on t c cylinder, there being a recessin the piston connecting the intake ort with the compression chamber at the on of the compression stroke of the piston.
2, A two c ole-gas engine, comprising a I cylinder, a cy indrical' piston workin therein, anextensionon the cylinder 0 larger diameter, a flange on the piston forming a trunk piston working within the extension cylinder to form a compression chamber, a cylinder head on the cylinder-extension having acentral o ning; a plunger projecting from the cylin or head and working within the'cyli'nd-rical piston and forming a combustion chamber in the interior thereof, there being orts in the piston clearing the plunger at e end of the explosion stroke of the piston connecting the compression chamber with 'the combustion chamber,-an exhaust passageway in the cylinder, there being a port m the piston communicating with the exhaust passageway at the end of the explosion stroke of the piston an intake passageway in the'cylinder, there being a recess in the piston connecting the intake passagewa with the compression chamber at the en of the compression stroke of the piston, said plunger being rovided with openings above the trunk piston, a spark plug in the giunger, and a tubular deflector rolecting rom the cylinder head to near the and o the plunger to cause the air forced through said openings to travel close to the walls of the plunger.
