With the foregoing and other objectsun view which will appear as the descriptlon proceeds,the invention-resides inthe combination of parts, and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed,
it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein d1sclosed, can be madewithin' the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the figures by characters of reference, 1 designates a table which can be of any desired proportions, the same being provided at its ends with supports 2 sultably braced as at 3. Inasmuch as the supports at both ends of the table can be the same, it has been deemed necessary to illustrate only one end of the table, said end be ing the feed end. I
An endless belt 5 may be arranged with its upper flight extending over the table but flush therewith and any suitable means may be provided for actuating the belt. This structure, however, does not constitute any part of the present invention, but has been fully disclosed in my applicatlon here1nbefore mentioned.
Extending downwardly from the feed end of the table 1 is a' guide plate 7 to whicha hopper 8 is fixedly connected. This plate is connected to the table by a flexible-metal sheet 20 and any suitable means maybe provided for locking the plate 7 at any desired angle to the brace 3. For example, an arcu-' ate arm 9 may be fixedly connected to the brace 3 and may be provided with a-series of openings 10 any one of which is adapted to receive a holding pin 11 extending laterally from the hopper 8. Thus it will be seen that plate 7 can be lockedagainst move ment relative to the support. Hopper 8 has its bottom 12 pivotally mounted at 13. and the lower end of said bottom is supported.

As shown in Fig. 1 hangers 21 can be extended from the table so as to adjustably support a roller 22 or the like having trunnions 23 which are mounted in vertical slots 24 in the hangers. This roller acts as an adjustable tightener for the chains while permitting the plate 7 to swingabout its pivot.
The chains 19 areprovided with spaced parallel slats 26 which are adapted to slide sides 25. These slats arespaced apart a suf ficient distance to receive any desired num-' ber of beans between them. One of the sides 25 is out awaydirectly above the belt 5, as shown at 27 and arranged longitudinally within this cut-away portion is a gage bar 28. 1
Secured to the sides 25 so as to extend partly across the inner portion of the opening 27 is a snipping blade '31.
It is to be understood that in operation the beans to be snipped are placed in hopper 8 and the mechanism set in motion. As the shaft 18 rotates the chains 19 are set in motion and the slats 26 are thus caused to slide upwardly along plate 7 and onto the table 1. Beans will gravitate along the bottom 12 so as to partly fill the spaces between the slats and this movement of beans into the said spaces will be facilitated by the agitation of the bottom 12. This agitation is set up by the tappets 16 coming successively into contact with the finger 15. As the beans are brought into position above the belt 5, said belt, which is moving obliquely across the table, will drag the beans transversely of the table so that as they are brought opposite the space 27, the beans will be projected at one end into said space and against the gage bar 28. As the slats continue to drag the beans forwardly, said ends of the means will be brought against the knife 31 and the ends snipped by the edge thereof cooperating with the ends of the slats. The beans will then be drawn past the knife and longitudinally of the table and, by duplicating the mechanism adjacent the discharge end of the table, so
that the beans will be shifted toward the opposite side thereof, the other ends of the beans can be snipped off in the same manner.
Such an arrangement for successively cutting ofi the ends of the beans has been disclosed in my application hereinbefore referred to.
By mounting the hopper 18 for angular adjustment, the same can bearranged for use in connection with beans of different j the hopper 8 so as to adapt the machine for use in connection with beans of different sizes.
What is claimed is 1. A machine of the class described inl eluding a hopper having a movable bottom, a conveyer extendmg upwardly through the hopper, and means actuated by the conveyer for agitating the bottom of the hopper to I direct the contents of said hopper onto the .along said extension and longitudinally of the table, said conveyer including spaced slats, and means for agitating the bottom of the hopper to direct beans into the spaces between the slats.
3. A machine of the class described including a hopper mounted for angular adjustment, an endless conveyor movable upwardly through the hopper and including spaced slats, said hopper being provided with a movable bottom inclined downwardly :toward the conveyer, and means operated by the conveyer for agitating the bottom to direct the contents of the hopper into the spaces between the slats.
