Be it known that I, WARREN BL WnrrERs,

acitizen of the United States, residing at- Stephenville, in the county of Erath and State of Texas, have invented certain new.

The operation of my invention] will be readily understood and is as follows:.; When the key lever B is depressed the shaft F will be moved downward and with it the drawing down upon the rod K, which in r puttingt e spring J under tension "and turn will pull down the arm N of the meter. As the inclined edge'O' of the bar E comes in contact with the inclined edge ofthe hook, the latter will be swung upon its ivot, throwing itself over the angled end the fiat top P bf the bar E passes below the hook the coiled spring I will cause said hook Rto be moved from the position shown in Fig; 1 to the position shown in Fig. 2, in

The lateral projection S upon the hook R will be thrown between the fingers of the star wh el and hold the same from rotation until a er the letter has been registered. The depression of the spacing bar, as it comes in contact with the angled end Q of thehook R will cause the'latterto tilt under tension of the spring I and disengage the hook from the flattened end of the bar- E, thus allowing the coiled spring J to re turn thebar E to its norma position and push upward upon the rod K which, throu h its connection with the meter, will causct e'j letter to be registered.
