IMPROVEMENT IN MACHINES FOR DISINTEGRATING wooo.
The Schedule referred-to these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern lie it known that we, Otmunns WOLFE, Sr., and Ouannns .\\"oL1 r,Jr.,-both of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton and State ofOhio,have invented a new and useful Machine for Disintcgrating \Vood; and we'do here'by declare that the following a full, clear, .and exact description of the same, reference, being an to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification.

\Ve'construct our machine substantially as follows:

Near the disk 0 is attached a series of strippingbits, 0, and planing-bits, oi. These bits are held and adjusted as ordinary plane-bits, easily detached and replaced for the purpose of sharpening the same. 7

\Vhen' the block has been reduced, -theprojection 1 on. rod j comes in contactwith the timber-frame, which throws the clutch out of action, thus preventing the jaws-holding the timber from coming in contact withthe cutting-bits.
When the timber-frameK has come-to its lowest point and brought to rest; the attendant shifts. the clutch to the oppositcfside, which reverses. the motion at the screws, and xthc timber-frame. K is then run upward. Should the attendant be engaged with any other part of the machine the upward movement of the timber-frame will be arrested by projection 2 on the rodj", which throws the clutch onto-f action, as in the former case. The scrap of wood reliiaining can then be removed and another block replaced as before, 1 v
In this way the series of eight cuttingapparatus can be kept in constant'work with but one attendant, and without the necessity of stopping the machine.
