Such pilot burner, however, is preferably adapted to utilize thev saine heavy fuel that is employed in the 'ma-rn and supplementary burners.
This may either be supplied under pressure or be drawn in by the effect of the atomizing .air jet. In the irst case I maintain e small body l of the oil in the lower portion of the compressed air' tank D. The oil thus supplied (through e. pipe f7) is Vaporized in an outer annular chamber f of the burner body F through a Central opening f in which the blast is discharged from the nozzle f2. The second pilot burner F (Fig. 8) has been more especially designed for 'use in the connection in hand aud consists of a. shell f3, closed atthe rear end save for a series of apertures f4, intel Which shell SOl projects an atomizer f5 as shown. Theoper-v I ation of this atomizer is substantially the seme as that of 'the supplementary burner E, compressed air being supplied thereto' through e pipe f, and oil under-amies plieric pressure through e pipe f8. The general operation of the main burner having been described, it need merely be noted in conclusion that after such burner has' been started the supplementary burner is of course turned oii. In the tzourse of the .normal operation of the apparatus, then',
