Letters Patent No. 111,000, dated January 11, 1871 animated January 5, 12m.`
IMPRVEMENT IN MACHINES FOR MIXING CONCRETE, &c.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
The rst part of our invention relates ta the at-` tachment of a number of plows, knives, and scrupers to a shaft revolving in a tub. n The object of this part of our invention is to cut up and mix together in a uniform manner the compositions of concrete or other similar combinations in the tub. 'neSEU'np'vtt "of ou'rminvntion relates to the combination with a revolving table and a scraper attached,anl1 to au adjustable discharge-gate at the bottom of the tub, for the purpose ot' discharging and delivering the concrete or other material -after mixing.`
Description of- Drawing.
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view. Figure 2 is a front vic\v,\sho\ving a general outline.
A is the frame of the maohine\vhich should be substantially constructed.
' B is the driving-sweep, attached to the main shaft- O; by 'which motion is given to the operating parts. v
D is a shaft running up through tub G, extending from which are arms, E) to which are attached the ploivs, knives, and scrap s, a b c.
Fis a tubing around sha, D, insile the tub, to prevent its contents from coming in contact withthe shaft or escaping from the t H and I are gear-wheels, connecting the shafts C :1nd 1). i
K is an opening in the bottom of tub G, for dis-l charging its contents.
L is a slide r gate under the tub, for opening and closing K, by means of -a rod Iand levenattaehed.
M is a revolving table. attabh'ed to shaft C, to receive the content-s ot' tub G, which is forced lor delivered from 'its surface by the scraper N.
O is a lever and rod att-ached to 'gate L.
l are brackets, for supporting a barrel or other'` vessel containing coal-tar or other material to be delivered into tub G.
'lhe coalftar, gravel, and other ingredients are put into the tub G, and, when the machine is in motion, are cut up and mixed together in a uniform manner by the plows, knives, and scraper-s u b c attached to the revolving arms E, so as to form a concrete.
Wheureadyforlemoyjng the gate L is opened,
by means ot' lever and rod O, and the 'concrete is allowed to pass through and is received on the revolving table M, and carried by it until it comes in coulaet wit-l1 scraper N .audis forced or delivered from the tabIc.
Ulaim.
We claim as our invention- 1. The combination of the plows, knives, aml scrapers a b c, operating insidelthe tub G` by meansof arms E, and shaft D prbtected by tube 11, the -discharge K, the'gate L, anti the lever and rod O, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbetbrc set forth.
2. The combination ofethe revolving table M, attached to and operatedb Vthe shaft C, and the scraper-N, substantially as aid for the purpose hereinbefore set forth. e
3. The combination ofi the plows, knives, and scra-V pers a b o, `the tub G, arms E, shaft- D, tube F, dis charge K, gate L, lever and rod` O, operating in connection with the revolviligrrr table M, shaft C, and scraper N, by means ofdthe gear-wheels H and I, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth. l
