Description

ilnttd tatt new een.
Letters Patent Na 1140,932, dated January 10, 1871.
IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-YOKES OF HARNESS.
` The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sam'e.
' a To all whom 'it may concern." g
Be it `known that I, ALBERT PARLIMAN, of Pal- 1nyra,ri'n theconnty of Wayne and State 'of N ew York, 'havejnxjented a certain new and improyed Attach- 'nientV forNeclr-Yokes of Harness, of which the followingis a specification.
- Nature' of the I avent/ion..
My invention consists in a device of peculiar con` struction attached to the straps' of the haines, and
holding the ring or strap of the neck-yoke, as herein,
after described.
General `Description. In the drawingliig'ure 1 is va perspeeltiye view of the hames'and neck-yoke, with my' attachment combined therewith.
Figure 2, a similar view of -the attachment, wit
theV parts separated. f
. Figure 3, a verticalsection ofthe attachment.
The attachment consists of a body, A, and tongue B. `The body has a central depending bear-ingu, made of curved forni and open at the top, in which ts the l ring or strap ofthe neck-yoke. A i 1t also has at the ends strap-loops, l) l), into which buckleft-he hamestraps, one on each side; and it has,
- the heme-strap, which buckles around it, and also by a shoulder, f, whiohts inside the loop.
The strain ofthe strap upon the tongue will always hold it down yclosely upon thebearing ot' the neck-yoke ring, thus keeping it in place.
The advantage of-this attachment is that it fasteus the neck-yoke ring cent-rally between the two hamestraps, thereby preventing undue lateral action caused by sliding either one way or the other.Y The tongue also holds the neck-yoke ring down.
The attachment heretofore in use has been a simple ring resting loosely upon the haine-strap,` which extended in one entire loop from side .to side of the haines. In such anarrangement the ring slides loosely upon the strap,'and the irregular lateral motion of the wagon-pole, causing the ring to' vibrate hack and forth upon the strap, is exceeding troublesome and tiresome to the horses, besides soon wearing out the strap.
W'hat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The body A, formed with a central depending bearing, a, strap-loops b b, and cross-bars c c, whenY used in eonnectionwith the tongue B, the haine-straps, and
