Be it known that I, THOMAS S. MOLEN- Dox, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Carrollton, in the county of Carroll and .State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements 1n Portable Elevators, 'v
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to portable elevators for domestic use, and 1t 1s an improve- .ment on the device of this class for which to so-construct the frame that it may be utilized as a step ladder; and to simplify 4and improve the construction and ope ation of the brake whereby4 the device is secured against moving on its supporting'wheels or casters while in active use.
With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the iny vention is better understood, the same con sists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed.out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited,
but that changes, alterations and'modifications Within the scope of the claims may be resorted to when desired. r

Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like characters of reference. The base frame of the improved elevator includes side bars 15, a front bar 16 and an intermediate cross bar 17. Guide 'rails 17, rising from the side members 15 are connected together at ltheir upper ends by a cap piece 18, said rrails serving to guide the car 19. The upper extremities of the rails or u rights 17 are connected with the front en s of the side members 15 by inclinedbraces 2O on which latter rungs 21 are Specification of Letters Patent.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawing, the operation and are capablel of being tilted by thc cranks and 4advantages of this invention will be readily understood.
