lle it lnoivn that I. Henin-intr F. PROVAN- inn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Melrose, in the county ot Middlesex and State of lllassachusetts, have invented an Improvement iii Machines for Forming Paper Receptacles, of which the following is a specilication.
Certain kinds ot' paper receptacles are composed of frusto-conical bodies and bottom-pieces having` notched edges bent to form a flange, which Harige is adapted to extend over the outside, or it may be the iiiside oi the loiver ends of the bci-ily, and to be secured thereto by paste or other adhesive material which is herein termed paste.
This invention-has .t'or its object the construction of a machine for securing the tianged bottoin-pic -cs to the bodies and censists in the combination ot' a forni of a shape corresponding to the shape of the completed paper receptacle upon which the body placed, and also the bottom-piece, and a pressure-device, made as an inverted cup or otherwise formed coextensive with the bottoin-piece, adapted to be moved into engagement with the bottoni-piece on the form to press itsl flange into riii engagement With the end-portion of the body, and means to support said pressure-device to admit of its being moved toward and from'the form, said supporting-means having associated With it means to hold it iii both its engaging and disengaged positions. Automatic means are or may be provided for moving the pressure-device out of coperative relation with the form to disengage and permit removal of the receptacle from the form, and said automatic means may be so constructed as to admit of manual movement of lthe pressure-device into cooperative relation with the form to engage the bottom-piece. 'The machine'also embodies means for heating the paper receptacle while it is held by the pressure device, thereby to dry and cause the adhesive material to set.

I claim 1. In a machine for forming paper receptacles, a turret, a plurality of forms arranged on said turret, pressure devices for coperation with the forms, angle members movably connected with the pressure devices and pivotally support/ed on the turret, a trip-member to which the angle members are successively presented in the rotation of the turret, and a downwardly inclined yieldeach angle member to ride beneath and be engaged by said trip member, whereby to operate each angle member on its pivotal connection in the movement of such angle member past the trip member.
2. In a machine for forming paper receptacles, the combination of a turret, a plurality of forms arranged on said turret on which the bodies and bottom-pieces are placed, inverted cups shaped to fit the forms which are arranged above the forms, pivoted supporting-arms to which said cups are loosely connected, projections and springs on said supporting-arms for engagement with the cups, respectively at opposite sides of the center, and holding-springs connected with said supporting-arms, substantially as described.
3. In a machine for forming paper recepturret, a, plurality of Jforms arranged on said turret on which the bodies and bottom-pieces are placed, pressure-devices for engagement with the bottom-pieces on the forms, movable supporting-means for said pressure-devices, holding-means connected with said supporting-means and automatic means to lift said supporting-means to cause the pressure-devices to disengage `the bottompieces, said automatic means operating in succession against and With said holding means, substantially as described.

A machine for forming paper receptacles including a form to receive the body of the receptacle, e pressure element shaped to `fit the body and adapted to overlie and press upon the bottom piece of the recepta ele, a' supporting member to which' the pressure element is pivot-ally connected, and means carried by said supporting member to# coperte with the pressure element to center the same in the pressing operation.
