13e it known that I, Gnonen W. Howes, a citizen of the United States,` residing at Dowagiac, Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating- Stoves, of which the following is a specificat-ion.
This invention relates to improvements in heating stoves.
The `main object of this invention is to provide in a heating stove an improved structure whereby the air is `effectively circulated and moistened.
Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
l accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. r
The invention is clearly delined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which:

Referring to the drawing, the outer walls or body 1 of the stove may be of Vany suitable design provided with doors and suitable open work7 not here illustrated.
The body is supported upon a suitable base 2 having legs 3. In the upper part of the combustion chamber 4C is a magazine 5 and below the magazine the fire pot 6. At the top of the fire pot is a flange 7 separating the combustion chamber 4t from Specicaton of Letters Patent.

Below the chamber 8 is an ash pit At the top of the ash pit is a flange 10 coacting with the walls of the ash pit to form a partition across the stove, see Fig. TTT. The side walls 9 of the ash pit are spaced from the side walls of the stove forming flue chambers 11 on each side of the ash pit.
The down draft lines 12 which open into the combustion chamber at 13 are adapted to carry the gases from the combustion chamber to the rear ends of these flue chambers 11 into which they deliver. Below the ash pit are vertical partitions 11i which form a central flue 15 connected with both the line chambers 11 at its front end and delivering to the smoke delivery flue 16 at its rear end. The smoke delivery flue 16 is centrally disposed relative to the down draft lues and its inner wall 17 is spaced from the rear wall of the stove body to provide an air circulating flue 18 between the down draft flues, the rear wall of the stove body and the delivery flue. The circulating flue has an inlet opening 19 at its lower end and a discharge or outlet 20 at its upper end, the outlet being preferably at the top of the stove and provided with a collar 21 so that a pipe may be attached if desired to conduct the heated air to a room other than that occupied by the stove, otherwise the circulating Hue discharges into the room occupied by the stove.
The lower end of the delivery flue 16 is branched to embrace the inlet portion 19 of the circulating flue 18. The lower end 19 of the front wall of the circulating flue being extended to the bottom of 'the stove, see Figs. TT and lll.
The inlet opening is provided with a grid 22 removably retained by the button 23. The ine top wall 241 is common to the down draft and delivery flues and adapted to receive the water pan 25. This water pan is preferably U-shaped and of such size that its rear wall constituttes a part of the front wall of the air circulating flue, that is, the air circulates through the flue against it. The top wall is provided with a flange 26 at its outer edge which serves to locate the water pan and also the removable wall section 27 of the circulating flue. This wall section rests upon the top wall 2-ilof the `lines on the outside of the flange 2G and is retained by any suitable means. The removable wall is provided with an opening 29 above the pan and with a grid 30 which can be removed for filling the pan.
The water pan being positioned in the circulating flue effectively meistens the circulating air and it being positioned on the top wall of the flues is well heated to supply Vthe desired amount of moisture.
By arranging the parts as described, practically all of the wall surface of the stove is utilized for radiation and a considerable amount of heat units which would otherwise escape through the smoke flue are utilized. `The ilues and flue chamber are of considerable capacity so that they, in eiect, constitute radiating drums, and opportunity is given for the radiation of the heat from the gases of combustion on their passage to the delivery opening of the smoke delivery flue. The air passing through the circulating fiue contacts with the rear wall of the fire chamber which forms the front wall of the flue and with the inner walls of the down draft and smoke delivery flues and becomes well heated and thus adds greatly to the radiating capacity of the stove.
It is found, in practice, that very little of the heated air circulating through the circulating flue passes out of the opening 29 in the wall section 27, but that the heated and moistened air is mainly discharged through the outlet 20 at the top of the flue.
I have illustrated and described my improvements, aside from the conventional form in which certain parts are shown in detail, in the form in which I have embodied the same in practice. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe various modifications which I contemplate as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to .which this invention relates to embody or adapt the same as may be desired. I desire, however, to be understood as claiming .m' improvements specifically in the form illustrated as well as broadly within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a heating stove, the combination of a fire chamber, a smoke delivery flue having a lateral delivery opening, a pair of spaced down draft flues having delivery connections with the lower end of said smoke delivery flue, said flues having a top wall common to all and provided with an upwardly projecting flange at its outer edge, an air circulating flue between said down draft and delivery flues and the fire chamber wall, said circulating flue being exteneded above said flues and having a delivery opening at its upper end and an inlet opening at its lower end, a removable outer wall section for said circulating flue resting upon said flue top wall on the outer side of its said flange, and
a U-shaped water pan arranged within'said air circulating flue to constitute a part of the front wall thereof, said pan being var-v ranged on -said flue top wall within said fiange thereof, there being an opening inV said removable wall section above said pan but below the delivery opening ofthe circulating flue.
2. In a heating stove, thecombination of a fire chamber, a smoke delivery flue having a lateral delivery opening, a pair of spacedopening at its lower end, a removable outer wall section for said circulating flue, and a water pan arranged within said air circulating flue to constitute a part of the front wall thereof, said pan being arranged on said flue top wall, there being an opening in said removable wall section above said pan but below the delivery opening of the circulating flue.
3. In a heating stove, the combination of a fire chamber, a smoke deliveryflue having a lateral delivery opening, a pair of spaced down draft flues having delivery connections with -the lower endfof said smoke delivery flue, said flues having a tcp wall common to ,all and provided with an upwardly projecting flange at its outer edge, an air circulating flue between said down draft and delivery flues and the fire chamber wall, said circulating flue being extended `above said flues and having a delivery opening at its upper end and an inlet opening at its lower end, a removable outer wall section for said circulating flue resting upon said flue top wall onV the outer side of its said flange, and a U-shaped water pan arranged within said air circulating flue on said flue top wall, within said flange thereof.
4. In a heating stove, the combination of a fire chamber, a smoke delivery flue having a lateral delivery opening, a pair of spaced down draft flues having delivery connections with the lower end of said smoke delivery fiue, said flues having a topwall common to all, an air circulating flue between said down draft and delivery fines and the fire chamber wall, said circulating flue being extended above said flues and having a delivery epening at its upper end and an inlet openingat its lower end, a removable outer wall section for said circulating flue, and a water pan arranged within said air circulating flue on said flue top wall.
5. In a heating stove, the combination of a fire chamber, a smoke delivery flue having a lateral delivery opening and a top adapted ioo to receive a water pan, a pair of spaced down draft liues having delivery connections with the lower end of said smoke delivery flue, an air circulating flue between said down draft and delivery flues and the lire chamber wall, said circulating flue being extended above said flues and having a delivery opening at its upper end and an inlet opening at its lower end, a removable outer wall section for said circulating flue above said delivery flue, and a water pan arranged on said delivery flue top `wall within said air circulating fine, there `being an opening in said removable wall section above said pan but below the delivery opening of the circulating iiue. t

In a heating stove, the combination of a re chamber7 a smoke delivery flue having a. lateral delivery opening and a top adapted to receive a water pan, a pair of spaced down draft flues having delivery connections with the lower end of said smoke delivery flue, an air circulating flue between said down draft and delivery llues and the fire chamber wall7 said circulating flue being extended above said lines and having a delivery opening at its upper end and an inlet opening at its lower end, and a water pan arranged on said delivery flue top wall within said air circulating flue.
