M'fzzesaes; Invenior:
'E/\' W Er'rnan MOZZ'Zte 1 his fliiorney- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN MOLINE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
STAND FOR MOTOR-CYCLES AND THE LIKE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN MOLINE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stands for. Motor-Cycles and the like, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in stands for motor-cycles and the like and has for its object the provision of an improved device of this character which is adapted to support the front wheel of such a cycle free of the ground.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which Figure l is a side view of a motor-cycle equipped with a stand embodying my invention, and Fig. 2, a perspective view of the stand removed.
The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawing comprises a suitable frame 1 provided with a suitable engine adapted to drive the rear wheel 2 mounted in said frame in any usual or desired manner. Each end of the aXle of the front wheel 2' is provided with a rearwardly extending rocker arm 3, the outer ends of said arms being pivotally connected with the lower end of the usual fork l at-point 5 in the usual manner, said arrangement constituting a part of the usual spring cushion connect-ion with the frame. A substantially U-shaped support 6 has the ends of its limbs pivotally connected with the axle of wheel 2 and each of said limbs is provided with a rearwardly extending stop arm 7 having a socket 8 at its rear end adapted to engage the free end of the corresponding arm 3 to limit the rearward swinging of support 6.
A supporting catch 9 is provided on an eX- Specifioation of Letters Patent.

tension 10 of the usual mud guard 11' and is adapted to releasably engage support 6, as shown, to hold said support in inoperative position. By this arrangement it will be observed that the front wheel of a motorcycle may be readily elevated from contact with the ground and the specific arrangement of parts will be found to be simple of operation and highly efficient in use. It will be observed that the parts are so arranged that the support 6 assumes a substantially horizontal position when held by catch 9 so as to act as a bumper, said support being provided with extensions 6 at each side which are curved rearwardly as shown.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention intoeffect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a cycle having a front fork, an auxiliary fork, forwardly extending rocker arms pivoted to said forks and an axle carried at the front ends of said rocker arms, of a U-shaped support pivoted at its ends to said axle; and angularly disposed arms on said support having sockets engaging the lower ends of said fork causing an upward thrust on said auxiliary fork, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HERMAN MOLINE.
Witnesses:
