To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, Josnrn HARRY GRUVER,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Befillable Bottles, of which the following 15 a specification.
My present invention relates to the genbottle neck, the said bottle neck being especially formed with a groove and seat, the
upper edge of the stopper being spun orand the seat dea packing 11? on the shoulder 18 of the hotpressed into the groove, termining the position of the stopper within the bottle neck.

The form of bottle herein shown is like that disclosed in English Patent 24446 of October 25,1912, and French Patent 449903 of October 26, 1912 granted to myself and F. Norris, Jr., and 1s also similar to the bottle disclosed in my application for Letters Patent of the United- States No. 698,555.
With a bottle constructed with the inner shoulder and groove above it and a sto per having an exterior shoulder and the 00king rim above it, the stopper may be locked in place under pressure, that is, while it is pressed firmly upon its seat and when this seat has the packing 17, the stopper can be locked in place with the packing under compression. v
I prefer to form the inner pronged member with a flange 20 at its lower edge to abut against the lower edge of the inner member or shell 5. The purpose of this is to keep the pronged member from working upwardly within the inner shell 5 and to keep the cork disk or washer from bulging up at its inner portion where the ball valve is seated. Furthermore this flange wilh enable the pronged member to be qliliiclily and easily assembled with the inner s ell 5', no special or accurate fitting of these 35f'parts being necessar but the pronged memsgber being slipped reely into the shell 5, the flange acting to arrest it in proper position and to hold it there when the parts are assembled, as shown in Figs. 1 and 6.

It is desired that the ball valve will remain seated and thus prevent the liquid from getting above the ball and filling the'spaces within and above the. stopper where this liquid wouldremain and give the bottle an appearance of not being filled to the proper height, and .further it is undesirable that the liquid should (collect within and above the stopper. With the cork 21, however, the compression of the air below it will hold the ball valve to its seat and the bottle may be inverted or placed on its side without liability of the liquid displacing it or getting above the ball.
I claim as my invention: 1. In combination in a non-refillable bottle, a bottle having a shoulder in its neck air between 1t and the ball valve and servesfacing upwardly with a groove close above said shoulder and a stopper consisting of a the main body of said shell extending below the said shoulder, and a valve carried by the shell, substantially as described.
2. A non-refillable bottle stopper comprising a sheet metal shell having an upper enlargement providing an exterior and an interior shoulder and an upstanding rim and having a perforated bottom, an inner shell of sheet metal secured in fixed relation to the outer shell and having a cover portion located in the upper enlargement with lateral discharge openings below the same to deliver into said upper enlargement, an inner pronged member. fixed in the inner shell, a cork seat between the pronged member and the bottom of the outer shell and a ball to rest on said cork seat, the said pronged memher having stops to limit the movement of the ball, substantially as described. a

A non-refillable bottle stopper comprising a sheet metalshell having an upper enlargement roviding an upstanding rim and an exterior and an interior shoulder and having an integral perforated bottom, an inner shell fixed to the outer shell and having a cover portion with lateral openings below the same to deliver into said upper enlargement, a ball valve, guide means on the inner side of the inner shell for the said ball valve and a cork washer, upon which the ball is seated, held between the bottom of the outer shell and the inner members, substantially as described.
4. In combination in a non-refillable bottle stopper, an outer shell having an enlarged upper .ortionproviding an exterior shoulder and an upstanding rim, an inner member comprising a shell fixed to the outer shell and having a cover portion located within the upper enlargement and with lateral openings below it, and having interior guides, a washer forming a valve seat at the lower part of the exterior shell and held by said inner member and'a ball valve fitted to said seat, substantially as described.
5. In combination in a non-refillable bottle stopper, an outer shellhaving an upper enlargement providing an exterior shoulder and an upstanding rim, an inner shell held in fixed relation to the outer shell and having a cover portion located above the plane of the inner bottom of said enlargement, with lateral openings beneath said cover and a ball valve closing an opening in the bottom of the outer shell.

In combination in .a non-refillable bottle stopper, an outer shell adapted to be fixed in all ithe bottle neck and having an opening at its lower end, an inner shell carried immovably by the outer shell and having a cover portion with openings beneath the same for the discharge of the liquid, a ball valve, a washer at the lower end of the outer shell surrounding the opening and forming a seat for the said ball valve, an inner pronged member having a ring portion at its lower end resting upon the washer, said ring portion abutting against a portion of the inner shell which acts as a stop to prevent displacement of the ronged member, substantially as described? 7. In combination in a non-refillable bottle stopper, an outer shell adapted to be fixed in the bottle neck and having an opening at its lower end, an inner shell carried immovably by the outer shell and having a cover portion with openings beneath the same for the discharge of the liquid, a ball valve, a Washer at the lower end of the outer shell surroundin the opening and forming a seat for the said all valve, an inner pronged member having a ring portion at its lower end-resting upon the washer, said ring portion abutting against a portion of the inner shell which acts as a stop to prevent displacement of the pronged member, the abutting of the pronged member against the inner shell being provided by a flange on the ring of the pronged member engaging the edge of the inner shell, substantially as described.
