To all whom it may concern 'Be it known that I, GILBERT W. G001 RIDGE, a citizen of the United States of America, and residing at Bridgeport, 1n the county of Fairfield and State of Connectiout, have invented a certain new and useful- Chain Attachments,

My invention relates to chain attachments and particularly to an attachment forfac1l1- Improvement in tating'the adjustment of the length of the pull chains commonly used in connection with the pull switches of electric lamp sockets and the like, the object of my invention being to provide a simple. device of this character which is economically manufac+ tured and eflicient in operation.

It is frequently desirable to add to the length of the pull chains of standard make which are attached to sockets as sent out by the manufacturer, since the standard length adopted may not bring the chain end within convenient reach where the socket is installed at a considerable height from the floor. It is often desirable furthermore to shorten the chain, especially for desk lamps where the standard length chain brings the chain end below a point at which it is dethe socket. At present the customary manner of altering the length of the chain necessitates the opening of the socket and the removal of the chain from the switch mechanism and a shorter or longer For the inexperienced this is an inconvenient and even dangerous operation.
