Description

: ra n s HEINRICH SCHWEITZER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DENTAL PATTERN-WAX.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may] concern Be it known that I, HEINRICH SoI-rwnrr- ZER, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented Improvements in Dental Pattern-VVax of which the following is a specification.
Inlay wax used at the present time for taking impressions of tooth cavities has the objection of being either very sticky, or, if made of less sticky nature, to bend.
The object of my invention isto lessen the stickiness of dental pattern wax by the addition of metal dust and thereby render the wax pattern more suitable for taking impressions and for carving without removing the favorable property of being stiff.
The preparation of my compound dental pattern wax is as follows: I take metal dust or filings, mix the same with warmed or molten wax of desirable consistence and while rolling the compound body into sheets, rods or shaping it to inlay points I take care especially to provide the wax surfaces with a layer of metal dust by contacting the wax surfaces with the metallic powder and rubbing or pressing said powder into the wax surfaces.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 17, 1913.
Patented July 14, E914.
Serial No. 779,640.
A very useful wax body is made of bees wax, resin or paraffin. It is preferred to use the dust of a metal which is condensed by pressure. The metal dust on the outside of the pattern facilitates the removal from the tooth cavity; when invested the outside layer of metal dust, adhering on the walls of the investing mold cavity and remaining there while the wax is burned, unites with the cast metal 2'. 6-, welds on the cast metal along the surfaces of the mold cavity, lining the casting in the periphery. This is of great advantage to the casting as the latter is thus provided along the outside with a layer of more condensed metal. The dust may consist of any metal although pure gold or platinum are preferable.
Having now fully described my invention I claim:
Compound wax bodies for making patterns for dental metal castings composed of wax and metal dust with an excess of metal dust on the surface of said bodies.
