To all l'whom t may concern Be it known that I, IDA MARIE MAXIMI- vLiann ERNESTINE I-IBNER, a. citizen of 'the German Empire, and residing at 13 Frstenstrasse, Dresden-A., Kingdom of Saxony Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Interconvertible Coverlets and Wrappers, whereof the following is a specification.

The object of the present invention is to provide a coverlet for a Couch, cot or bed, chiefly for hospitals, sanatoriums and the like, which coverlet will not 01111501 completely Cover the'patient, when recum ent, and at the same time also allow of his free movements, particularly of his arms, but will besides allow of being used as a garment by the patient when he rises.

The advantage obtained by the Coverlet according to the present invention consists in that the patient is not only covered in a hygienically satisfactory manner, while he is lying in bed, but that the changing from a. recumbent to a standing position may be effected without danger of his cooling down or the necessity of his having to Change his 'arments The obj ect of the presentinvention is obtained by providing a Coverlet having an opening for the neck of the patient with slits through which he may pass his hands, and with Covering means such as sleeves or lapels over these slits. When the coverlet has a counterpane, the sleeves are formed by tubular attachments on the inner (under side of the counterpane, and these tubular attachments are then drawn through the slits in the coverlet and slits in the upper side of the counterpane. The arrangement may, however, also be such,'that both the Coverlet and also the Counterpane are provided with sleeves.

Fiure 1 represents a longitudinal section bf this invention in its preferred form havino' sleeves which adapt 1t for`use as a wrapper and provided with a sleeved covering which serves as a counterpanewhen the device is used as a Coverlet. Fig. 2 represents a similar section in which the sleeves are omitted from the body of'the Coverlet or garment. Fig. 2a shows an enlarged view of the sleeved connection of the counterpane shown in' Fig. 2. The body a of this garment coverlet is made of Camelhair, wool or other suitable material and is 4preferably bound with a braid b. This body is provided at one end,

preferably about midway of its width with a longitudinal slot al extending downward or inward a substantial distance from the upper edge of the body and provided at its inner end with an enlargement 0. This slot divides the upper end of the body and forms on opposite sides thereof two substantial back wings e, which when the article is used as a wrapper or garment extend over the shoulders and across and down the back forming a lung protector.v The enlargement at the inner end of the slot d constitutes in such use a neck opening disposed a lsubstantial distance below the top of the body.

Means are provided for fastening the back wings or lung rotectors inv wrapping position over the s oulders and down the back. The means herein shown are two snap buttons parts g of which are located at the outer Corners of said shoulder wings and the counterparts g adjacent to the neck opening-C. Means are also provided for folding upward and suspending around the waist the lower end of the body a when it is used as a garment for the patient in standing position. The means shown for this purpose comprise two holes o at the lower corners of the body a, ya loop 02 on the inner face thereof, and a'pwaist cord or belt 0. threaded through said holes and the loop and adapted to encirclegthe waist as indicated in Fig. 7. In Fig. 1 the coverlet body a and the cover both have sleeves. An interconvertible coverlet and wrapper comprising a substantiallyv rectangular -body adapted to cover a couch, cot or bed and provlded with slits in its upper part adapted to constitute scyes and with an elongated enlarged slot at its upper end adapted to form back covering wings and a neck opening, and means for supportin the lower end of said body at the front t ereof at the waistline and forming two front used as a wrapper, leaving free the feet.

An interconvertible `coverlet for a couch, cot or bed and 'wrapper comprising a substantially rectangular body adapted to cover a couch, cot or bed and provided with slits in its upper part adapted to constitute scyes and with an elongated enlarged slot at its upper end adapted to form back covering wings and a neck opening, and a cover corresponding in shape to 'said rectangular body and provided with scye slits and a slot corresponding with the slits and slot of said body, said cover being adapted to form a lining when the article is used as a garment and acounterpane when the article is used as a coverlet. v
