An object of this invention is to provide a sandal which can be manufactured with out additional expense, but-which will be so constructed that the tongue will be confined positively in the proper relation to the strap and to the other parts of the shoe upper.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which a sandal embodying the invention is shown in perspective.

It will be understood that the invention is not limited to the provision of a singlenotch 20, but that if desired a number of notches may be provided to permit relative adjustment of the strap and loop, and if desired a notch may be also provided to engage the lower end of the le )p.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. In a shoe, a tongue and a strap, one of said parts being provided with an integral loop of fixed. dimensions formed by making substantially parallel slits in said part and the other part being provided with a notch arranged to interlock with said loop, the

width of said last mentioned part upon either side of said notch being greater than the length of said slits.

2.
