Description

S. & M. E. LAZARUS. SANITARY PORTABLE DRESSING ROOM.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 8, 1913.
Patented June 16,1914.
W gfffgiry UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL LAZARUS AND MAUDE ESTELLE LAZARUS', OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SANITARY PORTABLE DRESSING-ROOM.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, SAMUEL LAZARUS and MAUDE ESTELLE LAZARUS, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Portable Dressing- Rooms, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in dressing rooms particularly to that class of dressing rooms which may readily be erected and disassembled, placed in a suit-case or the like and carried from place to place.
It is the main object of the present invention to provide a dressing room of the character described which is to be used as a dressing room at beaches or for tourists, and which is provided with a shower bath for removing the scent, sand, etc., from the bather before dressing.
We provide also means for protecting garments of the bather from being wetted dur ing the operation of the shower bath.
Our invention furthermore consists in the details of construction of the dressing room and its connected parts, and in their combination as more particularly hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, and in which:
Figure 1 shows the skeleton frame of a dressing room according to the present invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the dressing room with part of the cover broken away so as to display the curtain dividing the dressing room from the shower bath. Fig. 3 shows one of the uprights on an enlarged scale in collapsed position, and Fig. 4 shows one of the supporting rods for the roof of the dressing room.
The skeleton frame for the dressing room comprises a plurality of uprights 10, each consisting of telescopically arranged posts 11, 12 and 13, which in their extended position are held in place, one within the other, by suitable set screws 14, 1 1. The roof of the skeleton frame for the dressing room comprises the rods 15 provided with a lower hooked end 16 with which they engage suit-, able sockets 17 upon the upper end of the upper parts 13 of the uprights. The upper ends of these rods 15 are formed as rings Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 8, 1913.

Serial No. 783,690.
18, and all of these rings when superposed form a passage for a securing bolt 19 provided with a head or knob 20 at its upper end, and carrying at its lower end, below the lowermost of the rings 18, a securing nut 21 and a hook 22.
Between two of the uprights 10, an open cabinet 23, a mirrow 83 and a brush and comb 34c and 35 respectively, are suspended from the socket 17 by means of strings 24..
Guy ropes 25 attached to the sockets and anchored with their outer free ends in the ground serve to hold the structure to the ground. The skeleton frame thus provided may be covered by any suitable material as commonly used in the construction of tents. Suitable hooks 26 are provided at the sockcts for the suspension of garments, etc. To the hook 22 is secured a water container 27 provided with a hose 28 carrying a nozzle 29 at its outer free end, and a stop cock 30 serves to regulate the flow of the water through said hose and nozzle. A curtain 31 is secured by means of hooks or the like 32 to one of the rods and two of the uprights for the purpose of keeping the water during the operation of the shower bath from wetting the garments suspended from the hooks 26. The floor of the dressing room may be suitably covered by a carpet and a folding table or chair may be provided in order to add to the comfort of the bather. From the foregoing it will be clear that the dressing room may be readily erected and collapsed and carried away in a suit-case or the like.
It is to be understood that we do not limit ourselves to the specific form of construction of the dressing room, and that changes may be made in its single parts without departing from the scope and spirit of our invention.
Having thus described our invention what we claim is:
l. A dressing room or tent, comprising in combination, telescopical uprights, sockets formed on the upper section of said up rights, holding means secured thereto, rods forming the support for the roof secured with one of their ends to said sockets, and their other ends bent to form rings, a bolt passing through the rings formed by the ends of said rods for holding the entire structure together, and provided at its lower end with a hook adapted to hold a shower bath, a cover for said rods and side walls secured to said holding means, said holding means adapted to suspend the garments of a bather, adjustably slidably mounted hooks .secured to adjacent rods are provided to hold a curtain thereby dividing the tent or dressing-room into two compartments, substantially as described.
2. In a tent of the class described, comprising telescopical uprights, rods having their ends held together midway between said uprights, and the other ends secured I thereto, hooks slidably adj'ustably mounted on adjacent rods, a cover for said rods and SAMUEL LAZARUS. MAUDE ESTELLE LAZARUS.
