Description
niiet Seite trind (time Letters Patent No. 110,021, dated December 13,1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN T RUMPETS FOR SPINNING-MACHINES.
Theyschedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making parl: of the same.
To all persons to whom thcsc presents may come:
Be it'known that I, Gnonnn Daarna, oi' Hopedale, of the county of \Voicester and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved lrumpct -for Spinning-machines; and do hereby declare the` same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawing, of whieh- Figure 1 is a top view;
Figures 2 and 3, opposite side elevations;
Figure 4, a front end view; and
Figure 5 a longitudinal section of it.
Figures 6 a-nd 7 are perspective viws of the two main parts of the trumpet as separated from each other. p ,v
`Figure S is a rear elevation of it. f
The purpose of the trumpet, as hcreinbefore ex? plained, is to enable the size of the aperture of discharge of the trumpet to be varied according to the size of sliver to be made by the spinning-machine.
To this end I form the trumpet. in .two separate parts, A B, having interlocking guides 0r ears, and with connecting devices by which the upperfpart may be moved Within the other, and adjusted either nearer to or further from its bot-termas circumstances may require.
In the drawing- The lower part A. of the trumpet is represented as open at top its entire length, and as a flaring trough provided with two abutmcnts or shoulders, a a, and guides b b, there being spaces, c c, between such guides, all being arranged in maunerasshown.
The upper portion B is a cap, curved or formed as exhibited, and lhaving two guides, ll d, to enter the spaces c c, and also two slotted projections or cars, e e, to rest against the shoulders a a, and be secured thereto by clamp-screws ff, the whole heilig so as to enable the cap-plate at its lesser endfto be brought down into contact with the mouth-piece A, or raised up therein to the height ofthe guides of such part B.
The lower part A has openings, g g, for recept-ion of the ears c c.
The pairs of guides of the two parts A B, by being 'arranged relatively to each other, as exhibited in the side elevations of the trumpet, operate vto prevent the sliver from catching in the joints of the said parts A B, and admit ot' such joints being made quite open.
Iihis trumpet will etct a great saving in the outlay for trumpets 'for a drawing or spinning-machine, for, instead of being obliged to have for it a series ot' trumpets of ditYerentsizes, as heretofore, one only ot' the new kind will be required.
I malte no cla-im to the broad idea of avaliable trumpet.
The' sliver-trumpet, as constructed in two parts, A B, provided withthe guidesb b l d and the means of connection and adjustment, all substantially as specied and represented.
GEORGE DRAPER.
