To all whom it may concern 1 Be it known that I, J OHN F CARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Three Rivers, Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fans, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention rel-ates to improvements in fans.
My improvements are particularly designed by me for circulating air through electric motors, and I have shown the same as embodied in an electric motor, although my improvements are desirable for and may be readily adapted for use in other relations.
The main object of-this invention is to provide an improved fan structure which is very effective and at the same time, is simple in structure and not likely to get out of repair in use. V
' Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. .The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated' in the accompanying drawingforming a part of'this specification, in which:

fan blades 8 are formed of sheet metal and are provided with integral body portions 9, the body portions being segmental in shape and arranged upon the ring edge to edge as shown inFig. III. The length of. the body flange. .The body portions are rovided with integral securing" fingers 10w ich are. folded over the edges of the flange for so curing the blades thereto. The body por tions are provided with integral fingers 10 which are folded over the edges of the ring. Each body portion is preferably provided with three fingers, one at the inner end of the body and one at, each "sideon the blade, as n the structure illustrated. These, fingers are firmlyclamped oven the edges of the ring and secure the blades thereto very efportions: is substantiall'ythe width of the fectively and so that they do not become loosened by the vibration of the mfifiorwi use. This is, of course, a highly advantageous feature. The motor casing ispro'vided with an internal annular rib 11 in the plane of the-flanges, the outer ends of the blades revolving close to the edgeof the rib. This is found to be of advantage in directing the current of air. I have illustrated and described-my improvements in a simple embodiment in which I have adapted the same. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe the various .modifications possible and which I contemplate, as such modifications will be readily understood by those skilled inthe art to which this invention relates from the disclosure made...

The combination of a casing, a rotor having aring-like flange thereon, the inner edge of the flange being spaced from the r0- tor shaft; and a plurallty of sheet metal fan blades provided with integral segmental body portions arranged on said flange edge to edgeand having integral securing flanges at their, inner ends and at each side of the blades folded over the edges of. the flange for securing theblades thereto, the length of said body portions being substantially the width of the flange.

A structure of the class described, comprising a ring and sheet metal fan blades prising a ring and sheet metal fan blades provided with segment shaped body portions arranged on said ring edge to edge and provided with integral fingers clamped over the edges of the ring, each blade body portion being provided with a finger at its inner end and a finger at each side of its blade.
