provide the pivoted links 3. These links 3 are secured to the tie by means of bolts 9 which. are projected through i'c cietci'ing openings in the tie, and in the lie is at e point near the inner end of each link, so that the outer: ends of the links itlfi free to swing vertically.
Each link on its upper face at its outer end is provided with an inwardly projecting log 10 which projects over the outer loose flange of the rail, and a removable block ll is secured to each link 3 by means of a pin 12, and overlies the inner bese flange of the rail, so that the link is firmly connected to the rail and holds the letter against movement, except such as is provided by the-pivotal connection of the link with the tie.
The bolts 9 are secured against longitudiml movement by nuts 13, end when these nu s are removecb tbcbolts may be removed and the links discoimected from the tie. The links may be disconnected from the rail by removing pin 12 so as to disconnect block 11, and hence by reason of this; construction the parts may be readily assembled and taken apart as desired.

Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of ports described Without departing from my invention, and hence it do not limit myself to the precise details set forth. but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.:

1. A railroad tie having elastic mil supports at its ends, and links pivotelly connected to the tie and adapted at their free ends to be secured to the rails, substantially as described.
2. A railroad tie having recessed ends springs seemed in the recessed ends and :1 lzipted to receive rails thereon links at the sides of tb tic pivotally connected at their iimer ends to the tie, semi at their ester ends adapted to engage rails, substs-ntlally as described.
3.
