The' essential object of this invention isto providea machine for sharpening razors, and the machine is adapted both to hold a razor or razor j revolving honing stone and .a stropping roller and to move the razor or blade lengthwise of the roller or rollers.

In this manner the length of time' during which the sharpening process is permitted, to continue canbc vregulated at will, for the sharpening .'.p'rocess stops whenever the split nut 45 has movedso `far .toward the right, Figs. 2 and 5, as to cause the release of the clutch, and thc time during which the process continues depends upon. the distance which the split iiut 45 moves from left'to right. The pulley 4 'may be continuously driven by a belt which is actuated by a line shaft, not shown.
